Rattle Free Streetlites
Rattle Free Streetlites
Something strange seems to be going on, the emergency exit doors on the Streetlites seem to not be rattling anymore...
I'm on 5456 right now and it feels fairly refined.
I'm not sure what they've done, but at idle the engine also seems a lot more smooth, no more bone shaking.

(07 Jul 2021, 10:57 am)logidoodah No no I agree, I was on an X66 a few weeks ago and a 49A (5454) last week and didn't even hear the rattling or feel the vibration as much from the engine.Yes the strong vibration while idling does strange things to those of us who wear tight jeans
(07 Jul 2021, 11:00 am)JP6004 Yes the strong vibration while idling does strange things to those of us who wear tight jeansLooks like you're going to have to find a new pastime

(07 Jul 2021, 11:27 am)JP6004 I'll take your word for it! Hand held "ahem" massagers are cheaper thoughI was gonna say at least you can sit on the chair, but...

(07 Jul 2021, 11:34 am)streetdeckfan I was gonna say at least you can sit on the chair, but...With your handheld massager I cant remember last time I was on one. Next time I'm at metro I'll sample the X66
Anyway...
I wonder how many Streetlites they've 'fixed'. If I had more time up in Gateshead today I would have had a play around (on the buses, that is)

I'm sure someone mentioned a few years ago, that the main cause of the rattle could be resolved by tightening up something on the fire door.
I tend to have the misfortune of a Streetlite on most day tickets I do, and I'd say the vast majority still sound like they're going to fall apart mid-journey.

(09 Jul 2021, 8:37 am)xpm IIRC the modifications recently have included new engine mounts.

(25 Nov 2021, 6:05 pm)Adrian And when we talk about encouraging people to use the bus instead of their car, you'd have to say that if your car sounded like that, you'd be taking it to the nearest garage! That's just a standard Streetlite, they've been like that since new.
