No doubt will replace 5319 at Chester. Be interesting to see if the next one goes blue to replace older drifter streetlites

What's wrong with the Drifters?

Give them bit of upgrade with USB etc. Also believe BSOG can be claimed on them as opposed to the 63 plates

But they're only 2 years newer on very profitable route, cascade the 15 plates elsewhere, the Drifter will probably have new buses reasonably soon anyway.

Thanks for sharing.

What has took 5410/5411's place at SM for repaint?, as rest of the Red Kite branded Streetlites were in service today.

Don't they need more for the 61 anyway? Imagine that will be going back Drifter hence the number.

There's other routes which need newer buses though 6, 12 and 57 being the most noticeable because of the LEZ. Then you've got the 3 Omnicities at PM aswell which unless are upgraded will need to go as all the full size routes at PM go through Newcastle now.

You've also got the X-Lines X6 and X7 without any buses atm aswell so maybe an option there or an upgrade of another solo route which in turn they move to Deptford.

I can't see many upgrades to Deptford though as it'll just withdraw Citaros as there's nowhere for them to go.

Wasn’t it mentioned by Dan and Martijn on the monthly live feed that there’s no plans to update the buses on the 60 and no plans changing the brand anytime soon?

Regarding the ex xline services X6/x7, I would remarket the 2 services as 62/63 as there are practically all stopper services except in Sunderland and maybe if it was all stops in Sunderland then maybe take some passengers away from Arriva service 22/23, l would de brand service 60 from Drifter.

The ex red kite streetlites are supposed to be heading to Deptford Depot

I wouldn't take that as the full truth as a lot of things have changed recently, I can see Deptford just keeping Citaros on everything honestly, but who knows.

Yeah, but they also said the X1 was receiving E400s and the X9/X10 was getting brand new buses. So I don't think we can really rely on what was said back then

Personally, I wouldn’t debrand the Drifter, it’s a really well known brand and the name and route hasn’t really changed since 2008. The 60 is a well used route and one of the more profitable ones so I’d definitely keep the branding.

If there are no plans for an upgrade to the 60, those ex Red Kite streetlites could be used to upgrade 61 and X6/ 7 (62 & 63) and then re-brand all as Drifter, although then you have the problem of the Newcastle CAZ.

Well they were right that both services are getting upgrades albeit slightly differently now post Covid.

Yeah, but obviously the planned cascades have changed as well with the X21 receiving B5s instead of extra StreetDecks and the X84 now receiving E400s rather than the B5s as previously expected.
So it would be reasonable to assume things may have changed over that way as well

Think it's fair to say that covid has changed everything.

Exactly, hence why we can't 'trust' anything that was said pre-covid, or really even during it as things can change at short notice!

5412 now sports corporate image - seen in Durham on a 16 to Castleside.
Is 6304 in for repaint? According to bus times it's been off since Monday night
