RE: 2015/16 Football Season
(13 Jan 2016, 12:03 am)LeeCalder wrote I was at the Newcastle match, yes it was handball, yes it was a penalty.

However, Newcastle should and could have had THREE penalties, one for a foul on Janmatt and another for a foul on Colback, the third foul drew a penalty which Mitrovic scored.

Man u should never have had a penalty, and the Colback 'Foul' wasn't a penalty in my opinion.

(13 Jan 2016, 9:08 am)mb134 wrote Handball, yes. Penalty? Not in a million years.

Are you telling me that, when you jump, your arms stay stuck by your side? He wasn't even looking at the ball.

Mike Dean shouldn't be a PL referee, he always makes himself the centre of attention.

I agree.

I bet he's not as bad as Mike Dean last night....!

The referee in the Swansea v Sunderland game tonight should be ashamed.

The Swansea manager Alan Curtis said that the referee was "Completely out of his depth"

Well the main thing is now despite Sunderland won we have climbed 1 place to 18th meanwhile Swansea are really starting to crumble I think there luck is running out it was bad for both Welsh clubs Swansea faired the worse as Cardiff City lost 2-0 away to Hull City thanks to Abel Hernandez and Sam Clucas but as for Hull they move up into 2nd as Derby County drew 1-1 away to reading

Wasn't just the referee, the linesmen were shocking as well from what I've heard/seen, Defoe's first was definitely offside.

First one was offside, second and third were debateable.

Aye, haven't seen the second and third from an angle where I can see for definite, so can't really say. Still think they've rode their luck for one season too many, and will finally drop down this year.

We will... Aston Villa is defo down, Newcastle is debatable - yes they've played decent in some games, like Sunderland but will it all fall apart?

I think, or hope, that we have more in us than Norwich, Swansea and Bournemouth. We've seen sparks, we just need the fire to ignite.

True, however this month I also believe that Ashley will invest heavily, he has no other option. It'll be an interesting few months.

It is going to be Newcastle or Sunderland who go dow

Either

1. Both together or
2. One goes down at the others expense...

I tiink it will be 3rd time unlucky for Sunderland, and if they do go, they have themselves to blame, they have done barely enough for 3 years now

From Skysports:

SUNDERLAND EYE AYEW

Sunderland have approached Swansea in an attempt to sign striker Andre Ayew, according to Sky sources.

However, it is our understanding that the Swans are keen to keep hold of the Ghana international, who only moved to the Liberty Stadium from Marseille in June.

-----------

NEWCASTLE IN FOR TOWNSEND

Sky sources report that Newcastle are in talks with Tottenham over a deal to sign Andros Townsend.

The Spurs winger has been linked with West Brom and Watford.

FA Cup: Video assistance for referees backed by football bosses

Can TMO's work in football, currently in Rugby there are more natural stoppages during a match, football is 100mph in comparison.

If the TMO is to be trialled in the cup at what point should it be used, all the way from the qualifiers, from the 1st Round Proper or the 3rd Round? should it be for all games or televised games and how should it be used? I am thinking some kind of challenge system, I think something like the Challenge System Tennis or the time-out system seen in American Sports and it should only be used for a couple of reasons

1. Red Card decisions
2. Goals ruled out for offside or foul
3. Contentious Penalties

Not sure what I actually think about this, I am all for technology but the time it takes to study a decision bothers me, I would not like to see Football becoming stop and start like RU and RL

Penny for your thoughts guys 😀
