Shall we begin the guessing game of which depot gets the delights........

This has also been confirmed on "Steven Knight Media - Fleet News Ramblings". I won't be surprised if they arrive at Sunderland first for a repaint, and so on - like 19641-7 did when they were transferred from Scotland. I assume they will start to arrive some point this week? I haven't a clue which depot and route they will be for!

They could displace 35188 -95 to other depots alike
35188 replaces 34611
35189/90 replaces 22067 ,70
35190 replaces 34605
35191 ,92,93,94,95 replace 34550 ,61,62,63,64.
I actually hope this happens to allow newcastle to have 3 darts left

I agree, The queue in Middlesbrough for the 1 is ridiculous every time I'm up there, Either bigger buses or the frequency needs to be doubled, Though the latter might need more buses than Hartlepool has.

You know for certain that Shields doesn't need any full size single deckers do you?

Similar to most other local Stagecoach passengers we are fed up being crammed into E200s and would welcome larger buses with open arms.

Yes because I live in Shields myself.

The commercial decisions Stagecoach take, Shouldn't see anything longer than 10.8M on our local services for years to come. We could've kept hold of 39702-39714 as they are longer and have a bigger capacity, They could of replaced them with last years batch of E300s or 11.8M E200MMCs but they didn't, They replaced them with more integral E200s which are smaller and more compact than 397**s.

E300s are too Big Engine wise to have running a circular town service, That's why they gone with E200s, If DDA wasn't around then Stageocach would've had leeway to keep the MANs at Shields for another year and replace them with 11.8M E200MMCs, Though so many older MANs to replace Stagecoach had to rush a decision and of course took the cheapest and most viable option.

No, The X20 requires a Full size Single Decker during the day, Only on a night time or Sunday can it be a smaller vehicle.

Hello Robin, Doubt all 351**s will come back to Shields though there could be a chance of one returning to replace 34611 as Spare. Smile

(16 May 2016, 9:43 pm)GMitchelhill wrote Not sure they be repainted as they were repainted not too long ago down in Yorkshire. But if they are going anywhere, my guess would be Stockton.

It would make sense since there are 13 ALX300's at stockton, it is reported that it's likely the 8? E400's are coming likely to replace (I'm guessing 8) ALX300's, and since the ALX400's are leaving Stockton it would technically mean they need some more cover buses (as they are used as spares) the 8 Kinetics along with the E400's would bring a 16 buses. Which should be enough cover for Stockton.

If everything is correct, it would mean that the e400's would all be out, 5 Kinetics would be on service 13 allowing 3 Kinetics spare to perhaps swap with the e400's when some routes don't need them.

It would also make sense as it means Teesside buses won't need upgrading for some years (oldest bus being 9/10 years old), unless they wanted to put more deckers into the area.

For engineering logistical purposes it's highly likely they'll all be based at one depot
RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2016
When stagecoach on teesside were call cleveland trianst There had more double deckers then single deckers in 1990s why not but some e 400 teesside service.

I agree, Be costly training different depots how to maintain a unique batch of buses, When they can be concentrated on single depot.
Similar to how Arriva are concentrating there Scania's on Darlington depot only.

Markets change, Some routes might not be viable anymore for double deck operation.
Though I'm not sure on how well loadings are up in Teeside.

Mainly economy reasons, same reason why many routes were changed. Yes, deckers will be helpful on some journeys but they are not essential on services all day.

A qualified engineer wouldn't get any training. If you get stuck you phone around.

And surely, it would make sense to keep all of the batch in one place - especially in the case given the fact they are less common vehicles!

A quick google search seems to suggest that its a MAN 18.240 chassis, which is what 24101-15 are (please correct me if I'm incorrect on either of these) albeit with a different body so could this be why Stockton is suggested as their likely destination?

It is indeed, And yes 241** are 18.240s too. And 18.240s are 12.8M in length, Someone on here said that Newcastle's 5 Extra Long E300s on the 100 are longer than the incoming kinetics'.....
Either Stockton or Slatyford by the look of it.

BIB: Only one batch of 18.240/E300s are 12.8m in length and those are 22620-6 with Stagecoach West (at Gloucester, new to Swindon for the 66 between Swindon and Oxford).

Stagecoach South Wales received a batch of 12.8M MAN 18.240s for Service X4 in 2009.
