Nobody would use either, only would exist as a secured service but I can't see the demand for either.

X8: Consett - Stanley - Beamish Museum - A693 - Chester Le Street - Lambton - Washington - Biddick Woods - Shiney Row - Penshaw - Royal Hospital - Sunderland.
New Express service combined off the 8 and 78. It will run nonstop from Consett to Stanley before heading to Chester via Beamish and A693 missing out Pelton.

The 8 and 78 will be reduced to hourly Mon to Sat daytimes. This service will only run Mon to Sat on a hourly basis.

Between Sunderland and Shiney Row service 78 and X8 will combine to provide a every 30 minute bus service.

Between Sunderland and Washington, Chester, Beamish and Stanley service X8 and 8 will combine to provide a every 30 minute service.

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
On the subject of the Coast&Country, I have a suggestion for the Sunday 78/78A. It's rather simple (to me anyway!):

Decide which route should serve Consett, instead of having buses run as a 78A there and a 78 back, meaning that in the event that passengers from High Handenhold/Beamish etc do want to go beyond Stanley (whether that be all the way to Consett or not) can't get a direct bus back until the evening when the 78A begins to operate both ways.

This doesn't make sense because the route in to sunderland arrives inline with when the opposite one is due out. Only way to fix is add 30 mins in somewhere and therefore another bus.

It makes perfect sense - it just isn't going to be the most practical thing in the world to do, as nice as it would be.
RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
I was thinking, contrary to my idea in the past of splitting most of the 309/310 workings, could the route through Cobalt on the 309 not be changed slightly? What I'm thinking is that only during the times listed below, the 309 could omit Quicksilver Way and Silverfox Way (the road with the guided bus lane) between the Village Hotel and Cobalt Park Way and instead just call at the stops on The Silverlink North. This would save around 2 mins in each direction with the time either being added to other parts of the route or extra layover time in Blyth.

Times:
- Mon to Fri 0930-1500
- Sat 0900-1700

Not with service 311 along Coast Road aswell, along with service X39 at peak times. There is also service 57 which can take passengers to Newcastle, most passengers tend to get on the first bus that comes on that road.

Wasnt the 1 originally the 301 along with the 302 which changed into the 1 and 2  in 2007,so why allow it to gain the '30' bit again, also at some point in the past the 301 did serve the metrocentre but was changed, the 49 used to also be the blaydon racers aswell as the 48 never really get why they changed its route number tbh, but it became the 49/A/B/C so if you changed the 49 why dont you have the 49 and 49A do 1 bit and have a 48 and 48A do the other bit you suggested

I think this is a problem with a lot of suggestions in these threads. It would make little difference to me if the Gne 59 was scrapped, for example, as I have plenty of other options, including walking to the Arnison centre or centre of Durham, but people in Quarrington Hill would lose their only Sunday service.

I don't think there's much point in duplicating corridors which already have plenty of coach services. Between National Express and Megabus, they've got most of these corridors carved up already.

However, I do think a competitive express service with Arriva between Middlesbrough and Scarborough and/or Leeds and Hull would do well, as there'd be traffic at either end (X9/X10 into Middlesbrough, various EYMS services in Scarbs and Hull.

Also reduce the line of passengers for X93 as it is extremely busy in the summer.

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
I think the Whitby/Scarborough - Teesside corridor is pretty much boxed off now the X4 and X93 appear sorted.
Not sure there is enough demand all year round or enough interest to offer any competition.

My initial thoughts on connecting the two operating areas revolved around connecting the X9/10 with the 45 series and EYMS other service around York (is it 18 to McArthur Glen?).

Operated by Pocklington depot, it would be York - Middlesbrough via A59, Knaresbrough, A1/A168, Thirsk, Northallerton and Stokesley - or A19 to A66 (haven't quite decided).

It would call at all local stops to Knaresbrough, then express/non-stop to Thirsk, limited stop beyond there to Middlesbrough calling at key calling points/timing points only.

Through tickets would be available and whilst there may not be massive numbers on a York - Middlesbrough service, through passengers would supplement local travel. Obviously it would also connect the two operating areas.

Extending the current 128 service might be an option - extending from its current terminus of Helmsley along the A170 Into Thirsk, then either run direct via A19/Via Northallerton or Via Stokesley into Middlesbrough. Run from Scarborough depot with maybe 1 or 2 buses outstationed at Peterlee to allow earlier journeys from Middlesbrough

Could North East Coach Travel sell their depot as sister company Stephensons ceased trading.
