Go North East: Service Suggestions v2

Go North East: Service Suggestions v2

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
(27 Feb 2023, 6:41 pm)Unber43 wrote I feel like a newcastle link would be useful for the 71, that could be either 21 service from Chester-Le-Street to Seaham, or an X1 which only goes to Houghton then goes to Seaham.

However I feel like there should be a slight route change for the 71.

Seaton - Station Road - Train Station - Seaham - Business Park, maybe you could even send it upto Princess Road, but that would limit turning around to Parkside which a newcastle link probably wouldn't be the worst thing similar to the old X95, and it would bring a service where the 202/62 used to be
I could see this being of use at peak times like but they have the 71 at peak times already and an hourly bus on top of that so its not really needed up the business park.i live on princess road and tbh as nice as it would be apart from the 60 I dont think any bus bigger than a solo should be going down that road, even then ive seen my fair share of collisions on the 62/202.
RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
60 go that way running dead, but idk. I've never heard of anything happening their, it seems to just be that Dawdon turn where things happen.

And you're probably right, a decker would be too big for the road
RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
Idea A:
Quarrington, Kelloe, Coxhoe, Dragonville, Belmont, Leamside, Bournmoor, Biddick Woods, Washington Galleries, then as X1 to Newcastle.

Idea B:
Merge 82A, 91 & 168.

Idea C:
Extend X6 to Washington via Royal Hospital, Pallion, Enterprise Park, Waterview Park, Teal Farm & Biddick.

It shouldn't be serving every stop from Sunderland to Houghton, it should be Park Lane, University, Barnes, Bede, Prospect Non-Stop to Houghton.

It should be 35-40 mins going to Durham not 60 mins

There needs to also be smh done about Rainton bridge its been totally cut off, barely any buses early morning/ late days (especially on Sundays)

The Sunderland-Durham via A690 section takes 43 minutes each way. Realistically no one is going to go from Sunderland to Durham via Lumley and Chester. That’s not what it’s for. That section is for shorter hops.

I really didnt know where to put this but what is up with Hexhams 1003, it tracks as if it's not a route and GNE doesn't even have it on their website. Yet I've just seen a photo of Halswhistle 1003, destination display on a bus. But I just thought this was like a private hire when I saw it on bus times or thought it was driver change over for 681 (which is pretty stupid thought) but like why isn't it on the website or anything and how often does it run?? If a more suitable thread please move it

I Have attached a screenshot showing the potential new route.

Not sure that's a good idea. There's already the 51/52 and 58 up in Felling so you're just going to take passengers off that and potentially make it unprofitable. Not to mention most people will walk down the hill and use the Metro anyway tbh (has roughly 750k users a year and there's nothing at the other side of the line pretty much).
RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
V514DFTDidnt the 27 serve Felling Square once upon a time?

Not the 27 in its present state and neither its predecessors the 532.   The original 527 did which went to Marlborough/Central Station via Windy Nook/ Deckham etc.

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
Mine is a straightforward suggestion.

For the buses running as service numbers 84 and 85 in Washington:

84 - to run in a continuous clockwise loop
85 - to run in a continuous anti-clockwise loop.

Presently, the two service numbers interoperate in that service number 84 runs from Concord in a clockwise direction Concord - Barmston - Columbia - Galleries - Oxclose - Blackfell - Concord while the 85 runs in the opposite (anti-clockwise) direction Concord - Blackfell - Oxclose - Galleries - Columbia - Barmston - Concord. Once a service returns back to Concord (eg the 84), the bus then changes to the other service number (eg the 85) and effectively doubles back on the route it has just travelled from. My suggestion would be to have the 84 run in a continuous clockwise route (i.e. don't change to the 85 when back at Concord) with the 85 doing likewise in an anti-clockwise route. This will help speed up travelling times between places which are near the start of one one service route (for example, Peel Retail Park on the 84) and near the end of the other service route (for example Donwell on the 85). Presently to travel from Donwell to Peel is a 40 minute journey. This would change to a 10 minute journey (plus layover times at Concord).

It also helps make it easier to track a bus on the app. At present, if I am at Concord waiting for the 84 I have to track the 85 to see where it is. It is the same for the 85 at Concord, I have to track the 84 to see where it is. With buses travelling in a constant loop under one route number this would not be necessary.

The 84 / 85 also serves Coach Road Estate once an hour. This would continue.

As per above, the actual route the 84 and 85 cover would remain the same. The change would be to how buses cover those two service numbers.
