(09 May 2014, 4:57 pm)Dan wrote Go North East kept the LEDs to re-use elsewhere in the fleet and replace flipdots. I think someone noted one of Stanley's 380x Lolynes receiving an LED destination display and Adam M recently noted that one of the Limes had received a new frontal/side/rear destination display. Providing they're of the same size, that could be where they came from.
When selling to Optare Direct, the vehicles have to be of a 'serviceable state' - but there's no policy to keep LED displays in or replace them with flipdots.

When selling to Optare Direct, the vehicles have to be of a 'serviceable state' (the reason why a number of the ex-Citylink batch were rejected by Optare as, when withdrawn, they had been VOR for periods of up to two months or so) - but there's no policy to keep LED displays in or replace them with flipdots.
