(22 Jun 2014, 4:44 pm)Michael wrote What is the capacity on them?

Only being on them once and i liked them.

Can they not use decker's on the 100?

I understand deckers can be used on the 100 but it would rule out one of the diversion routes due to a low bridge.

(22 Jun 2014, 4:50 pm)Dan wrote I think they seat 48, but the gas buses only seat 43 and the E300s on the Economic services seat 45.

May only be a couple of seats, but makes a difference during peak times!

And the present specification E300s (like those used on Carlisle' 685 at present and those due to replace those, plus the 25 for Stockton) seat just 41.

28028 has finally been spotted at Sunderland too.

Looks like its ready to enter service.

How many of the latest batch of 23 have entered service?

unfortunately I have not got any evidence about what I have mentioned here apart from 22072 and 22021, I heard that from someone in the know. obviously time will tell if it is true or not

If GNE can use deckers on the 10 and the 602 used to be double decker; I think it's a silly rule. There are still other routes it could take in the past it often use to operate via Scotswood Road when other routes were blocked and it could also travel the old 602 route via Western by pass and into the MetroCentre via Retail Park. In addition I can remember as I child vaguely travelling on an old Atlantean on 100

Walked past Sunderland depot.

5/6 gas buses parked up out the back.

Work on the gas re-fueling

One of the newer MAN's is parked up there also with that red thing over the wheel.

Training bus is also there.

1 Enviro and MAN in the paintshop.

Pretty busy today, couldnt get pictures to many people around.

There is also a decker on 52's. Saw it around lunchtime.

Normally is - there's a 52 board that doesn't start until 0857 from the depot (to work the 0902 52) so it's not uncommon for it to be a decker off schools as they are already defect checked so saves doing another vehicle.

This one should be heading off for Lincoln (again) - shown on the latest S/C East Midlands fleet card (released today) along with 22174, 22453/63/64/68. No mention of any other NE buses being at Lincoln or any of the other EM depots.

Also, what about Versas on the 100?

If it was Versa's would need to increase the frequency. Looks like artics then!

Only buses that would be better than the current E300 on the 100 would be the tri axle Scania OmniLink

Great buses, esp. if they're to the spec as they are in Dunfermline.

Have to find a bodybuilder who would body a tri-axle chassis - Scania aren't offering their own body in the UK anymore (which is known as the 'Citywide' at Euro6 - either Citywide LE or Citywide LF).

(23 Jun 2014, 1:31 pm)AIG20 wrote 22073 is the withdrawn MAN ALX300 with the red cover over the steering wheel. Also when I went past there were two Enviro 200s (which I think both had a chassis wash), and the rear was overflowing with Gas Buses, two of which were sat idling.

22073 has an engineering issue and is currently in slatyford engineering

(24 Jun 2014, 7:25 am)Richard Smiles wrote Since it was reported at the Back of the Depot a few days ago, has anyone at Sunderland seen 22675 (V675 DDC) lately.

It has been rumoured, that the current Driver Training Fleet may well be replaced at some point this year ?, so wondered whether 22675 could be one of the vehicles to be converted to the same.
I will walk round the back of the depot later if I have ten minutes before going home, Richard.
RE: Stagecoach North East - Latest
(24 Jun 2014, 8:45 am)AIG20 wrote 39731, 28030 and 20551 are at the rear of the depot, including 36094 which is recieving attention and 22050 which has new panels fitted and filler applied to some areas - meaning this is the next vehicle to enter the paint shop. In addition, several gas buses are in the workshops around the front.

It is not long before 20550, 20553 and 20121's MOT expires according to the vehicle enquiry website, and 21037's tax runs out this August as well as 20553 and 20554's in July which is further evidence that the trainers could be replaced soon.

However, there is no sign of 22675, and 22672 and 22673 are still in service.

The gas buses in the workshops are getting last minute checks before entering service, i would imagine?

I was there yesterday and it didn't look like any further vehicles had been repainted.

Former Slatyford MAN 22473 is now in use at Stockton, and is currently on service 37, having just left North Tees Hospital on the 1347 trip to James Cook

The route they use is via Scotswood View, Cross Lane and Wellington Street - of which there is a 14ft height restricted bridge. So while Stagecoach's E400s can fit under there (they are 13ft 10in), they don't risk it after the deroofing of one of the C-LFT Leyland Olympian when more-or-less brand new back in 1986.

There is also a bit about this and the start of services to the Metrocentre in 1986 in a short section in Peter Nash's Book, Push Once.

(25 Jun 2014, 5:50 am)Richard Smiles wrote A quick check of the DVLA website this morning, has confirmed that ALL of the remaining/outstanding GAS buses have now been taxed/registered with the DVLA as follows:

28035 (YP14 TGE) - 24 06 2014
28036 (YP14 TGF) - 24 06 2014
28037 (YP14 TGJ) - 24 06 2014
28039 (YP14 TGN) - 24 06 2014
28040 (YP14 TGO) - 24 06 2014

Interestingly 28038 (YP14 TGK) is recorded as having been registered with the DVLA actually on 09 06 2014.

Anyway that aside, ALL GAS buses have now arrived & have been registered, so presumably all are now available for service.

=D thanks for the update Richard!

(25 Jun 2014, 6:13 am)Richard Smiles wrote We have about 4 weeks to wait now Michael & then the two Brand New E200s for South Shields are expected to be delivered 37143 & 37144. I believe it is the working week ending Friday 25 July 2014, that they are due to be delivered.

Interesting that Slatyford are now sending Stockton Cast Offs viz 22473 & 22474. This stands Stockton in good stead for getting another batch of New Vehicles next year, as we will continue to have several non-DDA compliant vehicles in the fleet.

Not a long wait then.

I agree, i also think Newcastle will get new buses along with the X34

RE: Stagecoach North East - Latest
Having just passed Stockton depot, I can confirm another ex-Slatyford MAN has arrived but it's not 22474. Instead, 22472 is awaiting its turn on the pits for inspection. Sister 22470 has joined 22465 in the dead row.
RE: Stagecoach North East - Latest
(25 Jun 2014, 8:39 am)Richard Smiles wrote It will be interesting to see whether 22465 & 22470 see further use at Stockton or elsewhere, as both are Taxed until 1 March 2015.

I doubt 22465 will as it has been parked up for weeks now, that one was always one of the better ones so I have a feeling it's suffered a major failure.

22474 was definitely in the book as going to Stockton last night because I had a quick job to do on 474, I will check tonight.

That is a bit forthright and presumptious isn't it?

For all you, me and everyone else knows, plans could have changed
There could have been issues with the vehicle too.

Did anyone state that anything Richard Smiles said, needed to be taken with a pinch of salt, when one or two of your posts weren't totally correct or accurate?
