Strange the 794 was changed to run via Newcastle City Centre between Longbenton and Lobley Hill, before the CAZ diverted it back out so it now runs through Cowgate and Slatyford onto the A1 to/from Lobley Hill, it could still go via Tyne Bridge, Central Motorway, GNR and Haddricks Mill Road.

The 794 never went through Cowgate and Slatyford. That's the 792 you're thinking of. The 794 has always went via Central Motorway East (and never through the City Centre).
