RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2017
I passed a get there with E's branded bus near the A19/A66 junction coming back from Middlesbrough earlier so I'd imagine this was it

Sure it wasn't 27724? That's on 12s.

Is it just me that cant see the reason why this 3 way transfer has happened this weekend and not next? Surely with Shields set to loose around 6 buses next weekend with the service changes (which id assume would be all 6 of the MAN enviro's now) then the E300s wouldn't have needed replacements.

Or indeed why Stockton needed to be involved - i.e. why not just swap 27723-25 directly for 39702-04?

Depot Standardisation maybe - Slatyford no longer have any ADL E300s but have been building up a number of full length MAN 18.240s. Also increases Stockton's spare requirement for the type - given there's now 50 to cover a PVR of 46 (that includes 27506-10).

Do you know why 24113-5 have transferred to Slatyford?

If they are for the 100, it would keep a consistent allocation of MANs, which would potentially make route costing a lot simpler for them, especially when it will be all eyes on costs at the moment following the service changes.

But if they're not for the 100, I'm a bit bamboozled, and it seems like they've unnecessarily gone round the houses, so to speak? Agree with Dan completely though - seems mad that they couldn't hold off for another week.

I had wondered whether they are getting a bit of stick about the Wi-Fi? I'm led to believe that Stagecoach received funding to fit Wi-Fi to 27506-10 on the 100, and didn't pay for it entirely out of their own pockets, so would potentially have to report usage to the parties who were involved in funding it. Given that three of the branded MAN Enviro300s are now VOR, are questions possibly being asked?

My guess of the South Shields allocations from Sunday

3/4/7/8 37143 & 37144 37301-37319
E services 27726-27740
X34 19641-19644
12/17/18/30/X20 36461-36479
10/11 39701-39704 39707 & 39708

There are a lot of weird things going on at Slatyford at the moment. There are certain allocations (like E400MMCs on the 71) that are becoming so regular that they can no longer be seen as unusual.

And with Newcastle as whole, as a daily user of many routes depending on where my clients live, I can confidently say that reliability has tanked since last month's changes. For example, I used to be able to catch a 39/40 in West Denton around 9:20 and easily get to my main office for my rough 10:00 start. Now I'm lucky if I get there on time if I leave 15 minutes earlier!

The regular 'made changes to help reliability' post on twitter is laughable, really. No, you made changes to protect or increase your profit margin. Don't insult your customers' intelligence by claiming otherwise. Especially when complaints about unreliability have only increased!

There's also been one on the 34 I think earlier today too

(30 May 2017, 10:21 am)Dan wrote Logical, given that 27723 and 27724 weren't branded. Has 27725 lost its "get there with E's" branding yet? I assume this means that 27726 - 27740 are retained as part of the PVR for the E1/E2/E6, and 39702-04 are the allocated spare vehicles for the services.

Stagecoach North East Bus Depot reports that 35194 was seen parked up with the service fleet yesterday with a ticket machine installed, so has presumably been reinstated at Slatyford.

It was a branded one I seen the front of this evening

35194 has indeed been reinstated - it is out in service today.

How long have the E400s in Newcastle been carrying all over Samsung galaxy ads?

They're dreadful. From a distance, it looks like the bus has been painted in grey primer and got rather scratched.
