I'm not sure about diversions or road-closures, but I'd expect heavy loads and delays that will impact on their services in and out of Haymarket.

Does anyone know which open topper was in use at mile 6 for Guide Dogs charity? Think I saw most of the others but there was no sign of anything along there when I passed just before the roads closed.
Also is 6900 still in use with GNE? Havent seen it since Santa Bus guise and there's been a decent number of closed toppers on the Toon Tour this summer so presumably there's been limited open top availability?

Cheers 6998 must have been the missing one at mile 6 as I think I saw the rest along the route.

Thanks for confirming, must have been cutting it fine to get through as it wasn't long before 0930 that I was heading along that way and no sign of it.
Couldn't help but wonder as well at the Shields end why staff arent selling tickets to the punters as they queue rather than everyone having to pay on board (unless they have advance tickets etc) - it seemed to take ages for everyone to board and the majority appeared to be buying tickets from the driver. Surely that would enable the buses to fill much quicker if everyone was ticketed before boarding, and clear the queues more quickly (at least until they run out of vehicles and need to wait for ones to return from Newcastle)?

Arriva and Go North East staff were selling tickets in the queue until around 14:00.
