1415, 1441 and 1443 are heading to Ashington mainly to keep services running, not just for repaint cover (though they’ll also stand in for the Blyth vehicles due to be repainted by the end of the year). Ashington’s in a bit of a mess right now with engineering problems, so managers from other depots are stepping in to help get things back on track.
To make this possible, Redcar are moving 1372, 1376 and 1378 over to Stockton, since they’ve got buses to spare and Stockton sending those three.
In November, service changes should release another nine vehicles from Stockton and Redcar. There are also rumours that 7609 and 7610 will be withdrawn around that time, with Whitby Park & Ride set to get two of the 16-plate E400 MMCs, cascaded from the Durham EV shuffle.

They've been shocking for a significant amount of time now, it's a disgrace that it has taken this long for anything to be done about it. I posted on here earlier in the summer about some specific vehicles as examples of their engineering incompetence, so I find it mental that staff at the company haven't noticed the same things until now. The depot manager clearly has no standards, or oversight - which begs the question if they are in the role on merit or due to nepotism.
Yesterday was a prime example of the incompetence across the board at that depot, single deckers allocated to the first few buses after the Newcastle match on the X21/22 and 1497 was pulled from service before even making it to Haymarket leaving a one hour gap in X21s. They're killing their busiest services through sheer ineptitude.

Reportedly just 1 of these 3 is actually fit for service, and is operating out of Blyth (assume as one of the SP BHs). The other 2 aren’t usable.
Deckchairs. Titanic.
1390 and 7530, which both broke down on their last days out, have been sent out again today and have broken down/been removed by mid-morning. 1390 managed Alnwick and back - why you’d send something that has broken down on its previous run on an X20 is beyond me.
