UKIP's strategy will be the same in any election.

Sow distrust amongst the electorate and single out a particular group of outsiders to blame.

It worked well in the 1920s and 30s and, rather depressingly, it may work well in the 2020s and 30s.

I think I may move to a more liberal country when that time comes...like Zimbabwe or Belarus for example.

The TUSC dude in one of the Sunderland counts was overjoyed with the number of votes he received...A few hundred

Labour are still in the lead with three seats declared so far.

Using crude sampling techniques based on the outcome so far, I think we can all see the picture here. Lets save all those poor folk counting ballot papers the hassle of doing so and declare Ed Miliband the new Prime Minister now!

People are moving on from the main ones.

Everyone else is taking ages to get the results in.... -.-

Nope. It's a coalition of a load of trade unions and some of the socialist parties. The problem is that they're going to get whipped in every single seat, because they haven't the public support.

I would not wanna be the Lib Dems Accountant/Bank Manager right now...Seems like there on course to lose thousands in lost deposits

Looks lib dems have been bent over and shafted hard...some big names lost there seats, same can be said for labour north of the border

The BBC are now predicting 325 seats for the Tories which effectively means they'll have a slender majority.

And a lot of commentators are already predicting a change in leader for both the Lim Dems and Labour.

Lib dems have lost a lot of voters, didn't expect that, also didn't expect UKIP to do well with the % of vote.ls in some area's.

I haven't really got up to date with the other area's and who won.

The Lib Dem result is nothing short of humiliating and it shows they lost a lot of support by climbing into bed with the Conservatives. Many Lib Dem voters voiced their disapproval in 2010 and some tried to distance themselves from the coalition agreement when fighting local elections. Clegg's position is now untenable as leader. 


As for Labour, well, wrong choice of leadership combined with policies which don't reflect their grassroots support.

Would David have been a better leader than Ed...dont know a great deal about it, but the general feeling seemed to be that Ed stabbed his brother in the back...

If this shows anything, then it shows how complacent the Labour party have been.

How wrong Nick Clegg was when he said and I quote 'They need to go lie in a dark room if they think they'll get majority'

Paul Nuttall must feel like a knob when he said 'I guarantee that UKIP will have more than 2 seats'

I despair.

When the NHS is privatised and you can't afford treatment, when the national debt has continued to rise, when we are ripped off in more taxpayer sell offs (if there is owt left to sell off) and we have seen police, fire brigade and many other public bodies stripped back to their bare bones - maybe the penny will drop.

One thing is for sure, those members of the forum who haven't got a job - best get looking to make one up, before benefits are scrapped entirely.
It might be a job with very few hours, you might be on minimum wage and financially worse off than before - but there is no way these lot will let you off.

I have had conversations with colleagues and ex-colleagues, who live down south. They have openly admitted to being traditional lib dem supporters and live in marginal areas (not sure on the constituencies).

Rather than vote lib dem and risk the SNP having a voice via any lib lab alliance (as unlikely as that may have been), they voted tory.
One quote, from a highly educated and 'sensible' ex-colleague was: 'I voted for them. It (SNP) definitely influenced my vote, but I didn't think it would make much difference. I thought the others would have done better'.

Granted, that is only a handful of people, but thought it was an example worth sharing.

Tactical voting may not be something you agree with, but it happens.
UKIP are saying a lot of their voters, went tory - simply because they didn't want to risk a lab snp coalition.
Whether that is accurate or an example of them being upset, no idea.

The independence debate stirred up nationalism in Scotland and resentment in England.
Cameron is the only winner and has been twice over.

The SNP campaigned against austerity, yet won't change anything, other than maybe forcing through another independence referendum. They are as big as they can get and for all they may be riding on the crest of a wave, their influence, isn't going to hold much sway in Parliament.
Patriotism and hot air in Holyrood? Definitely.
Influence and change in Westminster. No way.

I voted tatical to. Best of a bad bumch.. Labour ot tory. Well tory got it and I for one am a lot happier for it.

Just had a laugh at some bird on the news, doing a piece about Boris Johnson, young lass said she was there because she loved Boris...When asked who she voted...UKIP

At least Farage kept to his word. He said all along that if he didn't win his seat, he'd resign. It was right for Clegg to go also. So many people lost their jobs and i think it was only right that he gave up his to make it fair. As for Miliband, he was an arse anyway so its probably for the better.
