“BREAKING NEWS: Stagecoach have ordered 200 new @ADLbus Enviro400MMCs that will replace older buses in the fleet in: Oxford, Manchester, Yorkshire, Preston, Northampton, Mansfield, Portsmouth, Chichester, Winchester, Torquay, Folkestone and Newcastle”
https://twitter.com/cbwtweets/status/159...98466?s=46&t=EEVe5v8rsI6XXJAgszgD4w
So far reported on various other forums and Facebook groups are:
14 for Northampton to cover their services 1/2 to decker operation, replacing single deckers - due in May/June
23 for Preston for the 125 (Preston to Bolton via Chorley), replacing 24 Gold-spec Scania N230UD/Alexander Dennis Enviro400 from 2015
Unknown number for Folkestone for service 16 (Hythe to Canterbury via Folkestone)
20 for Sheffield Holbrook depot, likely to displaced Enviro400Hs from either the 52 (Woodhosue to Crookes or Hillsborough via the City Centre) or the 120 (Halfway Tram Stop to Ranmoor or Fulwood via Crystal Peaks, Manor Top, City Centre and Hallamshire Hospital), and allow the replacement of the remaining Euro4 MAN 18.240/Alexander Dennis E300s at the various depots in the division (should only be the ex-West Scotland 2418x examples remaining - their transfer was due to them being Euro6, required for the Rawmarsh Hill CAZ) - due during the Summer
That's 57 with confirmed homes, leaving 143 to split between 9 depots.
wouldnt mind SNE blagging the 24 scania 230s from preston to build up the capacity. in the meantime 143 split between 9 depots is only 15 on average, well below the 35 im thinking of in my head to update SNEs fleet
I think potentially the X47/X77/X78/X82/X77 & X88 are best fit PVR wise however not all these services require Double-Deckers otherwise I'd say the 1/22 or 38 are contenders however i'd say with peak time workings included PVR's may be tight at 15 which is the "Magic Number" I've heard.

yes could definitely see sense in 1 or 2 of the X47s and X78 AND X82 each getting allocated maybe 2 Deckers,
although as the 62/63s routinely get allocated occasional single decks and more rarely an E200 which is totally unsuited that get awfully overcrowded, especially now the 62 has had its route extended even longer to cover throckley. ideally if 20 new MMCs get delivered these should go to slatyford for that is where the bulk of 62/63 services run out of now.
i would advocate that 4 or 5 of the E200s from slatyford are replaced by E300s and go south to either Sunderland or shields allowing those depots to release vehicles to hartlepool. and maybe 6 of the older double decks get put on an X47/X78/X82 Duty as they are getting busier compared to before the pandemic, especially the X47. i would say 2 of those single decks could be cascaded owing to the age of the double decks replacing them and the age of the other single decks.
i think walkergate needs around 3 more double decks as a spare E200 regularly ends up on the 22 which a lot of the time is rammed and i think the 2 NK60 Deckers that went to Stockton in return for 2 E300s need to be replaced
the spare double decks could then maybe split between Sunderland for building up a couple of the E service workings as i have been told they are getting busier and Stockton with maybe a handful of those earmarked for temporary hartlepool duties when tall ships etc are on.
i know the last ten years i have seen a lot more people in the Newcastle area commute by bus and i think with the cost-of-living crisis that number will rise a lot more, i can imagine in particular the 62/71 service get a lot busier as there has been 2 decent sized housing estates built very close to those routes with another 1 planned

Remember reading this last night wonder if they might come for the 685 now instead with them taking it over. Potentially could see the X82 scrapped completely (or dropped to hourly) with a short 685 from Newcastle to Throckley every hour. Otherwise they're going to be running the X82 in front of the 685 by 3 minutes which seems wasteful. That should be a PVR 4 and with the magic number of 15 that someone said, no doubt made up, the 38 is a PVR of 10 I believe so you'd have 14 for the 685 + 38 and a spare. Would work out. Then you'd have the 60 plates on the 1 or 12 and the rest to do the 1 or 12 and 22.

Are Stagecoach actually taking it over though, are Arriva not just running it from Walkergate?
**EDIT - I have just read the other thread, and take back my comment haha.

i said 15 but that was only the number of unallocated new buses divided by the 9 depots that haven't yet confirmed anything.it is in no way an official number just an average of what we could expect

ah no problems, i would be very disappointed if it was only 15, i think 25 should be a minimum but I'm not confident

has anyone heard anymore on numbers for Newcastle yet?
Are stagecoach buying new singles deckers for UK fleet I mean all stagecoach fleet not just north east?

nothing has been announced yet but i would be surprised if some weren't getting ordered, probably get the scottish electrics out of the way first

I see Stagecoach Highlands tweeted today that they have on order another 40 vehicles to replace the entire fleets at Inverness, Aviemore and Tain.

I imagine all of these will be 23 plates?

Not surprised, some of their fleet is antique to be doing the work they're doing. I was up there last year and following one of their Enviro 300's and it sounded terrible. They're definitely not designed for doing long distance country runs which they do.
Give them credit for keeping the ex. Newcastle Enviro 400's in service though which do 40 miles on runs from Newtonmore to Inverness at high speed considering we locally can't keep some brand new buses on the A19 or Enviro's on the road pottering around Byker.
11581-602 Chichester (22)
11603-6 Winchester (4)
11607-28 Torquay (22)
11629-51 Preston (23)
11652-62 Folkestone (11)
11663-76 Northampton (14)
11677-96 Hull (20)
11697-716 Sheffield Holbrook (20)
11717-31 Manchester Hyde Road (15)
11732-46 Ashton (15)
11747-61 Witney (15)
11762-9 Mansfield (8)
11770-80 WALKERGATE (11)
now that I've discovered the deliveries for 2023 E400MMCs and finding the disappointingly low number of only 11 new buses for north east I'm looking at where potential cascades could come from.
I'm surprised at chichester in stagecoach south getting allocated 22 new buses as i think they only have 22 double decks in there fleet, the newest of which are 69 plate 400 MMCs,i find it surprising one depot is getting its entire double decker fleet renewed in a single delivery, This could be down to nearby Portsmouth getting its own CAZ, and with stagecoach south having a lot of ALX400s, i can understand the necessity of replacing them even if they are very rural most of the time and passenger loadings only tend to be busy when the trains are off.

Stagecoach Highlands have recently received a batch of Volvo B8RLE MCV Evora's, aside from that nothing unless you want to count in Electric Buses which have been going into Stagecoach Scotland Fleets or Stagecoach London.
Sunderland's electrics will be singles.

Would potentially expect Yutong E12's for the E1/E2 & E6.

Hoping for something else, but you're probs right as they already have them elsewhere in the fleet.

I've heard it will be the Yutongs that Sunderland will get a d that they should be here by the summer

That's quick
Wonder if they'll be branded due to them being electric
Yes I was told Summer, too. The brochure I mentioned in the levelling up thread, however, was not Yutong.

What was on the picture?
I was on 28022 this morning and the dashboard was all lit up, saying the engine was bust.
I remember someone mentioning it the other day too.
Edit:
Wonder what fleet nunber they'll take? 28041+
Don't really know the full Stagecoach fleet so not sure what numbers are free.

In order:
Not telling, cos it's fun watching the speculation (and also I don't want to look like a moron if they've changed their minds)
When it says "Engine Malfunction" it generally means it's gone into limp mode at some point (some of them keep going into limp mode until the engine warms up then it's fine, although I've had a couple do it seemingly because of high revs. 005 did it to me on the Felling Bypass for seemingly no reason whilst I had about 50 people on, which wasn't terrifying at all) - I've had it clear itself before (although I was often turning the engine off cos of standing time). I've noticed little change in performance (although it seems to limit the kickdown on some).
They seem to be using the 29100-999 and 30000-999 ranges for EVs (29020-022 are E350Hs - presumably Hybrids). From Bustimes, the EVs elsewhere are numbered as follows:
29101-109; Guildford P&R 200EVs
29110-118; Perth 200EVs
29201-205; London 200EVs
29301-306; West Scotland 7900Es
30001-017; West Scotland 200EVs
30101-125; Inverness Yutongs
So based on that, I can see our's going in the 29400 or 30200 range.
28000 range is exclusively our gasbuses. The next one numerically after 28040 is 28602, which is a diesel Scania E300 - it looks identical to our's, just without the gas tank on top. That range continues 28748.
There was also a 28601 which seems to have suffered an accident at some point - 28xxx has been used twice in total for Scanias including the current gas (280xx) and diesel (286xx/287xx) series.
Also, 30016/17 are with East Midlands at Mansfield not West Scotland (with '16 off the road currently with fire damage)

Ah yes, missed that bit (even though the livery on 017 is labelled as "Nottsbus" - Nottinghamshire famously being in the highlands...
