I spy with my little eye, a difference in roof colours on the Streetdecks.

Green extends to the front (to save on gold paint maybe?):

But not the same case for the red:

EDIT - unless it's got something to be with the green one being a GNE repaint, and the red one being a manufacturer paint job?

6331 was painted at Saltmeadows, the others that were done in house will be same.

Decker on the X20 might be overkill Big Grin, since its being used on every X-Lines service.

Wonder how long it'll stay at each depot for?
Are the X30 & X31 going to be reduced to hourly (30 mins combined) by any chance with the X31 also going via Whickham & Dunston considering that the X70 & X71 already serve Sunniside to Gateshead (I know that will lose the link from Stanley to Gateshead)?

Working out where the shortfall for the X45/X46/X47 will come from...........

- 9x NEW ADL E400MMC X30/X31/X70/X71 (or 8x of Consett X30/X31 extension withdrawn)
- 2x NEW ADL E400MMC spare
- 6338-6340 X45/X46/X47 alongside the StreetDecks
First time I've seen a red xlines today (in person) and wow it really suits the bus. Looks amazing

Well given there is only Washington, Chester, Consett and Hexham that will operate X-Lines Services I think it would make sense to move it around each quarter, I haven't included Deptford as the X20 is not operating using X-Lines vehicles at this moment in time.

Think one board is  Wink
Is there anything other than the engine (and the ugly rear window) different on the 6 cylinder compared to the 4 cylinders?

It was quoted by Dan awhile ago but might of changed by now due to COVID, that the streetdeck would go depot to depot then afterwards become a spare at riverside for the x9/x10

Sound of the 6 cylinder:

Sounds like a cross between a DAF DB250 and a Merc!

For the purposes of fuel economy, would these be considered light, mid or heavywight?

I honestly can't tell much difference from the video, it maybe sounds a bit more rumblier (if that's even a word)

Then again, I've always quite liked the sound of the 4 cylinder StreetDeck, but that could be because I've literally done thousands of miles on them so I'm just used to it!
Plus, I've always preferred the sound of the gearbox over the engine

If a bus had to win in the sound department of modern time, it would be the E400MMC coupled with ZF hands down!

On the other foot for all time, would either have to be a Leyland Olympian (Cummins L10 & Voith) or a Volvo Olympian (Volvo D10-245 & ZF)

The E400 really suits that shade of orange, especially with the black contrast. Dare I say it makes the E400 look nice... (although I don't think any colour could fix the front end)

Howay then Mr Bowyer, is it more of a vrom vrom or a vroooom vroom?
1st time I've had one of the new streetdecks from Consett to Newcastle today on X46 (normally I get an E400 on X70/71).
I have to say I'm genuinely impressed with the streetdecks build quality , being superior to the E400 and performance wise there doesn't appear to be too much difference, maybe the E400 being better on hills but that's about it.
I've noticed the new E400's have developed quite a few rattles in a short space of time but the new streetdecks I was on felt fairly solid with very few rattles.
When will 6367 and 6373 enter service?

I wonder how his views would differ if he tried Arriva's Blyth and Ashington 'X' routes in comparison.

Always a good read.
Currently on 6348 on X45 to Consett and the rattles upstairs are terrible. Theres some rivets or screws missing on some panel as every bump.its a loud annoying rattle of metal on metal. Not what youd expect from a new X lines bus but then again it is an E400 ?
