From memory there have been numerous times that operators have reregistered vehicles to newer plates where they are able to do so - I believe the ex-X9/X10 B5TLs are an example of this.

I don't see why a value gap from 20 to 70 would be any different than from 70 to 21 - the difference is identical in both situations.

It's all about perception.

I'm sure it's completely different in the bus world, but in the car world, people look at the year on the plate rather than the actual registration date.

So both a 20 and 70 plate would be recognised as a 2020, but a 21 plate would be 2021. So say a vehicle is registered on the 28th Feb 2021 as a 70 plate, people would just naturally assume that it's a year older than it actually is just because it was registered a day before the switch.
The electric buses set sail from China yesterday - will take a month to arrive though, then need to go elsewhere to have work done, and won't enter service till mid/late October.

Sounds like there's going to be some fare changes as well, I wonder if it'll be good or bad!

Drop in revenue and profits, new vehicles to pay for and restricted loadings.
They're gonna have to make up for the shortfall somehow.

But as others on here have argued, lower fares could bring in more passengers which in turn increased overall takings

I've argued that myself in the past.
It could be the route they decide to take. How it would work whilst social distancing/restricted loadings are in play and and increase in volume is needed to make the finances stack up, is another matter.
It still doesn't take away any of the points I made earlier though - there's a shortfall that needs making up.
The budgets and costings for all of these purchases will be out of the window now. It needs putting right somehow.

I'd 100% agree with lower fares to bring numbers back to what they were pre-covid 19 as increasing them will only have a further negative impact on the company.
Cracking shots Dan.

That Quayside photo has to be the best entrance to a bus ever.
Just a thought here Dan if you're reading this. If GoNE look to do a TV ad for the Tyne Tees region, perhaps something like this could work.

From Castles....................................................Video shoot of the X21
To Countryside.................................................Video shoot of the X30/X31/X70/X71
And our spectacular coastlines..................................................Video shoot of either the 1/1A or 309

Explore the great North East and let us take care of your journey! .......................................Perhaps some brief snippets of on board facilities available across various routes.

Between Countryside & Coastline, slot in “..around our bustling cities...”  (with a shot of the new electrics once they arrive, near Theatre Royal or Central Station).

But they do make a lovely whoosh noise, and seem to whine more than me.

Just seen that the 56 will remain every 15 minutes from September. Is this a potential hint of vehicle movements or just temporary?
I know it was said that Consett buses will be required to go into service straight away to release DD for crusader in the interim. However, with only 6 days to 1st September and non have entered service, can we presume they will be re-registered as 70 plates ready for entering service next week?

Dan has just announced over Twitter that 10 of the new X lines buses will begin service tomorrow. They do look incredible!

Fantastic to see, particularly in the current climate where bus companies need to be doing everything they can to attract people (back) to buses. Hopefully this helps to speed up that process along the various Consett to Newcastle routes.
Seems to be confirmed that the B9s from Consett will be deployed onto the 27 as a stop gap until the Red Arrow B9s are released and have been refurbished.

They're needed this weekend especially with the Metros being off the whole bank holiday weekend.
