(27 Nov 2016, 9:21 pm)citaro5284 no, just a personal opinion Michael.

Tongue, i do think the loop should be upgraded though.

I think the Citaros would suit black, if they kept it black.

Some of the Scanias on the Green Arrow 97 are older than the Loop examples, most have been on since the Highwayman days. Some are 51 reg examples and in my opinion should take priority over the loop.

Don't forget when the Loop buses were new and 5227 5228 they were new to Chester depot and used on the 21 when it was branded as 24/7 . Not surprisingly they were shipped out pretty quick

Be surprised if the 28s got any sort of upgrade. Though the current Solars seem even less reliable than the DAFs where (and those heaps carried on for years after they should have) Chester seem to cover it well enough with plain red Solars and Streetlite subs.

(27 Nov 2016, 8:54 am)Andreos1 Without the radio, it wont be out. I am dying to know how drivers/control communicate with each other adequately, to pull it out of service on a daily basis. I would have thought whatever method used then (whether its smoke signals, morse code or mobile phone) would be suitable on a night too.

Are radio's needed on the x10 but not the x9?

Whoever was driving 4967 this morning on the Q3 wants his licence taken away.

Doesn't indicate on Percy St and tries to swing in from the right into Haymarket. Narrowly avoiding a parked 306 which has to be moved so he can swing around and blocking the road to an ambulance.

Just lazy

Didn't some Scanias on the Green Arrow receive upgrades to make them Euro 5 equivalent?  Government funding which came via Gateshead Council IIRC.  Maybe this will have some bearing on where they end up?

Maybe the radio is linked somehow to the panic alarm?

I believe they did, but it still means that there are 15 yr old buses on front line services.

True.

I was thinking more along the lines of payback time vs the investment (and I can't remember who much the funding was); and if Gateshead Council bid for the funding to reduce air pollution, maybe there is some condition to the funding that the vehicles in question have to stay operating within Gateshead.

I suppose Citaros are Euro 5 if they were to become available.

Deptford had similar, funded by DCC for the 20 and X35. It was before their PVR's were increased, so I can't remember which were given the treatment. I am sure some digging would give the result and following subsequent cascades, give an idea if there were any T&C's which applied in that case.

It'll be all the Scanias that are listed as Euro 5 on the fleet list which will have had that particular Eminox work done. Physically, it's anything that has the small extra grill next to the engine/radiator grill on the N/S. Think 4949 is the exception to this as it received a brand new Euro 5 engine after its fire.

Some of the other more elderly ones have been up'd to just to Euro 4 in the past, but that will just be the simpler mod/traps GNE have done on their terms without funding.
