2857 a flying machine
2866 abit sluggish
I think they may just use a random full size bus on the 95 till things are sorted. Could just use a temsa as purely for the 95 and keep the solo for the 96
They may bring a small e200mmc from Darlington as a last resort

The E200's can't run the routes due to grounding issues. Also why should Redcar, now be robbing buses from Darlington to sort out their problems again. Might aswell just send every 72 plate there.

1759 could manage the route in sure an e200 could manage.
1438 is on the 95 today
Presumably 2866 is on the 96.
Still no 2863?
2857 is on the 81

The Darts could manage the Jesmond routes which the MMC's couldn't. I believe the MMC's have a lower frontend that the Darts so they'll struggle. There's also the problem that the Darlington routes can only run with midibuses aswell due to the tight corners and narrow streets so you'll just be moving the problem from one depot to another.
2857 has been pulled off the 81 btw, just had a look. Not sure if it's technical or not so maybe that might be heading to Whitby now?
They've had their moneys worth out of the Solos. Surely their time is running out though. The best solution is just to buy some new ones.
Solos are still being manufactured, they'll be a lot cheaper than full sized buses, and Arriva would only need a small number of them.

I know this might be a bizarre opinion but personally if I was Arriva, I'd be looking at binning off the 95/96 contracts then getting 9 Enviro 200 MMC's as:
1 Darlington - Replace 2841
8 Ashington - 57/57A/434
I'm not sure those routes are really worth it alone to have a microfleet of Solo's which they haven't purchased for years, unless they can nab some of the WF Streetlite's from down South to run it. There is currently 3 without a home at Hemel Hempstead, for example.
Adding to the discussion about the minibuses based at Whitby. They are normally also used on two schools services - obviously not this month during the holidays.

Maybe, but a small fleet of Solos (or other minibuses) would allow them to run these routes and the school contracts as now, and also tender for other contracts that might turn up.
Even having them almost as spare buses could be useful. We often see a Solo on the 81 for example, or other routes, and they must save a bit on fuel if you add up all the mileage they do whilst on full sized bus routes. Ok, a very small amount in the total scheme of things but handy nontheless.
1554 still at Redcar today and is on the x4 along with 1556

Aye no arguments there really. Just the issue is they really need to be wheel forward due to grounding issues.
From what I've heard on the grapevine, obviously Chinese whispers might have impacted it, Switch/Optare or whatever they're called this week have awful after support and it's why most are dodging their products.
Is it worth have a microfleet of 3 buses, let's say just to run that route when you could otherwise get fleet continuity and just have a full midibus fleet of short Enviro 200 MMC's if that makes sense.
If I did keep the 95/96 I'd probably look at the cheapest crap you can buy, Ivecos or what not and then if you lose the contract just bin them off tbh. Probably easier. It doesn't really matter if the customers like the buses as your paid anyway. Same with the 434 really.

1554 was taken off in Middlesbrough, replaced by 1436 off a 63 and returned to Stockton. It’s out on 5s now tracking as 1553

At lest it got replaced with a more relble bus 1436
According to BusTimes tracking (if accurate), 2857 was swapped off the 81 in Redcar yesterday, then worked an X4 to Whitby where it was swapped with 1433 onto the 95. Tracking today showing 1433 on X4 with 2857 on 95.

That’s redcar for you, they seem to be pinching Stocktons buses to cover their routes, now 2870 is in a complete mess they probably pinch another solo from Darlington which would mean Redcar would lose a pulsar

That's where you incorrect Redcar won't lose a pulsar I really wish people would stop jumping to incorrect information

Could just be rumours but Darlington are due to loose solo 2841 to Whitby apparently

Atm whitby has 2866 and 2857 2863 could be at Redcar receiving maintenance or at the whitby outstation but that one not been seen
Question
Is 2870 still in the ditch in Grosmont?
If not do we know where it currently is?

2863 is in the shed at Redcar i seen it this afternoon while I was waiking past
SpSN is only 1459 nothing new

Yeah I’ve driven round the routes many times and while Solos are used on the 96, the roads really aren’t great and they’re arguably too big. It’s tendered for as a 16 seater but Arriva link it with the 323 school which requires a 30 seat (or thereabouts). They also run the 318 which is on the 95 board. I would have them the other way around as the 318 requires a minibus while 323 you could theoretically run any single deck on (though I am sure a DD has done it before, albeit presumably missing Castleton station!)
