They're lucky they've got anything at all as they could've easily been told to change like other areas tbh.

Anyone else will use the 15 minute 22/23 service unless they've got a screw loose.
Wonder how long it is before the 'passenger feedback' line is trotted out with this one?

Probably not too long, I don't know why I have a feeling it'll turn into a Seaham to Peterlee service with a based on passenger demand for a service to Seaham from the villages, passengers to Sunderland can change at x.

The service from Seaham to anywhere South / South West is absolutely appalling now, an hourly X6 which doesn't run on a Sunday and that's your whack pretty much.

tbh I'm not sure why they didn't just create a 62/62A between Seaham and Peterlee only with a PVR 3, they're probably going to subsidise that now anyway PVR wise give or take.

So will layover also be cut in Durham & Bishop Auckland? Based on current timings even from WA club, either timings will need cut or layover reduced at stopping points including Eldon Square, Durham, Bishop Auckland and West Auckland.

I'd like to think with the tighter times and availability (subject to evening & Sunday patterns) that the vehicles operating the X21 will be powered by engines made in Darlo (wink).

And with a PVR of 8, it would make sense having a 'new' spare at Riverside which could also do a full day on the X10 if needed unlike 6336/37 which have smaller tanks.

You never know if it's Riverside based and once the driver situation improves they may have a chance of getting someone to cover the run into the town and back so it can get back on time leaving Gateshead

As in one driver takes the late one with the actual relief heading straight to ES with another bus?

That wouldn't be a bad idea but I think GNE are slightly mad cutting the PVR & layover time. Saying that, GNE didn't have it until October 2021 so unless cutting the route short or something else will help, who knows.

Think its roughly 4 minutes dropped from the running time (+ 2 for the withdrawn section in West Auckland)

Tbh at the time when they added an extra bus into the PVR I actually thought it was a bit overkill especially with the 25 minute layover it gets now at Eldon Square.

It's doable with that turnaround although be harder to get back on schedule should any delays occur, not many services tend to get more than 10 minutes for turnaround/layover.

Yes, seen them passing our house a lot, recently. They've been coming from the arnison centre the way the 50 and 59 do.
Would be nice if they offer through tickets to Sunderland on the new 61 that allow you to get off on the terrace, cross the road, and catch the bus in front of the one you got on.

Sorry that sounds like trying to make it at least somewhat attractive. If this was GNE's idea then it's quite obvious they don't give a hoot about giving the likes of South Hetton and Easington Lane a bus to Sunderland. If it was DCC's idea then I'd love to know what they've been eating/drinking.

Edit; just thought that wouldn't work with a 30 min frequency, so nevermind, but the point still stands.

They’re route learning the X20 which is moving onto the main rota at Deptford.

Are there any other routes going off the main rota and onto the "small bus rota" etc
When will all the new timetables be available?
I guess they will need to know the Durham tender results first?

The submission date for which was just yesterday at 9am.

On the way there its: River Drive - Sea Road - Pier Head - Coast Road
On the way back its: Coast Road - Pier Head - Sea Road - Ocean Road

That is quite a tight turn around, 4 Weeks minus a day until the Start date! - What is the expected date your likely to be notified of outcome?
Just had a thought......but would in most instances, would the X21 not just swap both bus & driver at Eldon Square with the relief coming to and from Riverside as well as doing a round trip on the X21 with the same bus?

81 and 83A sound intresting

The 81 is only supposed to go to Sunderland on a Sunday daytime to replace the 8 - surprised its appeared on the full reg, thought it would of been left off or in the info section on the CSV (not yet available for the 81 or 83A)

81 route: Gateshead to Sunderland Via Low Fell, Harlow Green, Wrekenton, Birtley, Barley Mow, Washington, Waterview Park, Castletown

--------

83A: Heworth to Chester-le-Street Via Concord, Washington, Biddick, Fatfield, Harraton, Rickleton, Barley Mow

It would be nice to see the 81 & 83A to be ran as a decker sometimes.

Hello all,

First time posting here, been following this thread for a few weeks now as I’m interested in the upcoming changes.

Can someone explain what the difference is between a “main rota” and “small bus rota” and what routes are on each?

I had a relative as a driver a long time ago at Sunderland and I remember them saying they were coloured, such as Red, Orange etc. This was quite a while back maybe 10+ years now. I’m interested to know the difference.

Thanks,

Jonathan.

So this is all I know, I could be wrong.

So Riverside (afaik) there are 3 rotas, there are the 67/69/29(Q3 Used to be on), then there is the Gateshead Rota (routes like 27/49/X66/51/53/58) and the Metrocentre Rota (10/6/12A)

Hexham has two, a Tyndale Links one and a 10 One (X85/84 used to be on the Tyndale Links Small Bus Rota)

Washington (it was two I think, X1/50/26 & Little Pinks) Not sure which one the 4 goes into

Deptford - Small Bus Rota - X20/X6/62/38/33/700's - Big Bus Rota everything else.

I don't know much about the others however they are coloured rotas they are just nicknamed small/big bus rotas - small bus rotas tend to be newer drivers who get smaller buses, with some exceptions e.g X20.

83A will just be the one ran by GCT presently, I’d imagine?

694 has been on loan to Deptford for about 2 months.  There is a lot of route training to be done.  The Ex Peterlee routes are going onto the Blue rota.  As Dan has also said there are number of route changes to the Main rotas at Deptford so they need trained as well.

Not sure why they'd do this, if the canteen is at Gateshead Metro?
I saw an omnicity (not sure which) route learning around Stanley today.

That's interesting! Never realised they were planning on running a New Service 83 as there has been no mention of this anywhere to my knowledge. Can only assume this is a works service maybe? Will be interesting to see what route it takes. I think there is currently an 83A running pretty much the route mentioned in an earlier post on here.
