As for people not being interested, im sure people will be as those photos will be the first to be seen by some people whether they up in this neck of the woods or mot. Wouldnt let other people uploading pics before you put you off.

Obviously I will share some followers with other people so if people are uploading photos before I do they will see them and may not really bother looking at anyone else's photos.

I may possibly go out for some photos of them on Wednesday and I hope to try and get some photos in some slightly different places although chances are that I may possibly end up doing the usual spots (Sunderland, Chester, Stanley and Consett).

I do want to get more photos of Go North East, Stagecoach and independent services in different places but it's tricky when you don't know the routes and there is considerably more Arriva photos than anything else. Thankfully my trip to Carlisle next Saturday will assist in getting more Stagecoach photos although it will be in a different region.

In the upcoming months I do want to get photos in more different places, I would like to revist the Sapphire 5/5A, X3/X4 and go further afield such as Carlisle, Bridlington, Scarborough and go on the X15/X18. I would also like to visit different places such as Leeds, York and would like to have a proper trip to Manchester rather than just a few photos taken in a rush with people who aren't interested and embarrassed by me taking photos.

I will probably go out for when the Arriva 22/24 get launched as Sapphire and then when the Red Kite StreetLite's and B9s enter service then maybe do Coast and Country shots then maybe take a bit more of a break then once all the moves and all the new buses are in service I will be able to relax a bit more and go different places such as Scarborough and give the MAX X15/X18 a whirl.

To be honest I havent been out much taking Photos as of late, last big trip I did was a few weeks ago when I went to Bishop Auckland etc, before that was the week where I stopped at my Dads whilst he was on Holiday, other than that only time I have been out is when I have had an Interview or had to go to Ingeus, been a "House Hermet" otherwise as I trying to save up some Money so I can get an Xbox One or a New Camera, knowing me ill go for the Xbox.

Thinking up a Plan for when I do go out for the Red Kites etc, think I might do something like this:

Lambton to Washington Galleries
Washington Galleries to Eldon Square
Eldon Square to MetroCentre
MetroCentre to Rowlands Gill
Rowlands Gill to Blackhall Mill
Blackhall Mill to Consett
Consett to Stanley
Stanley to Beamish
Beamish to Chester le Street
Chester le Street to Durham Cricket Ground
Durham Cricket Ground to Penshaw
Penshaw to Chester Road(The Broadway)
Chester Road(The Broadway) to Sunderland City Centre
Sunderland City Centre to Waterview Park
Waterview Park to Rickleton/Picktree Village
Rickleton/Picktree Village to Lambton
Rally Services for this Year have now been confirmed, basically the same as last minus the one through Riverside Depot.

Purchased a North East Explorer today, and had a good time. Day got off to a bad start with the Tyne and Wear Metro, but in the afternoon things turned much better. Read on to find out more...

The day began at 08:30 when I was woken by a push-notification on my phone. It was citaro5284, letting me know that I was starting off with 4909 on the 09:40 #78 to Sunderland. Slightly disappointed, was really hoping for a ''Lime'' branded B10, but nonetheless; 4909 was a nice ride this time last week, so I was undeterred. Got to the bus stop for 09:35, and at 09:41, I saw a red B10 heading down Ropery Lane. Put my hand out, and the driver brought this horse to a stop. Asked for an Explorer, which I had to say a few times as the driver later laughed with me saying he thought I'd asked for a ''sport'', haha. Took my seat at the very rear, I enjoyed the sounds of a B10BLE engine, as it's going to be a distant memory in coming months, and on top of that, will be extinct on this route in a couple of days. Enjoyed every minute of this, I no longer cared about it being a non-''Lime'' branded example, just the fact that it was a Renown was enough to please me. Funny how the mundane becomes so desirable...

Left 4909 in Sunderland's Park Lane Interchange; as the sun was alright, and the weather was good, I opted to head out of the bus station for some photos. There was a man standing with some binoculars around his neck, and a notebook in his hands, who I worked out must have been a bus spotter. Didn't appear to have a camera with him, although he was carrying a bag. As I lifted my camera, minding my own business, he approached me and asked me if I had seen ''five three seven oh''. I had to ask him a couple of times to repeat because of a roaring B10 departing the bus station, until I worked out he was asking after 5370. I told him I hadn't, but nonetheless engaged in conversation. I introduced myself, and he introduced himself as something beginning with M (he was quite quiet!) - either Mike or Michael, think it was the latter. He said he'd come from Billingham, and had used the X7 from Middlesbrough to get to Sunderland. After about 10-15 minutes, it was 10:40 when I checked my phone, so I bade him farewell and made my way to the Metro station. This was where the day became a mess...

I was of the understanding it would be as simple as the Metro to Heworth, then onto the 900 to complete my journey, far from it. A pleasant journey as far as Seaburn, when an announcement came on saying this train would be terminating at Brockley Whins. I thought to myself – ''where the hell is that?!''. I've passed through the station before, but it seemed to be almost in the middle of nowhere to the amount of attention I had paid. As we slowed down and approached the station, people began to prepare to disembark. People began to walk along to an overbridge, then across it to a housing estate. I was thinking – ''where is this replacement bus?'', as a queue of around 60-70 people had formed at a single bus stop. I overheard a man on the phone saying a Metro supervisor had explained that we would need to wait for a regular bus to show up and get on that. I winced at the thought, but after about 10 minutes of waiting, a Volvo B7 President (6027) rounded the corner, with the 901 Metro Replacement screen as the destination. I was about 20 people into the queue, so I had boarded in a matter of minutes. Showed the driver my Explorer, and headed upstairs to sit at the very rear of the bus. When we did pull away from Brockley Whins, we were full and standing, some people standing on the upper saloon. A 20 minute ride to Heworth ensued, before we were asked to head to the other side of the interchange for a 900 to take us for the rest of the journey. Being one of the first to board, this made me one of the last to leave. A big queue had already formed, and I was at the rear. Then, another 901 came in and dropped passengers off. By the time a Vyking, which was ready to leave when we arrived(!) came around, and I am not being dramatic here, the queue was a horseshoe shape consisting of 100-150 people!!!

There was no way that I would ever get on Vyking 3974, which was picking up people at the front of the queue. Luckily, President 6014 came into sight, and started picking up behind 3974. People chose between the two, until 6014 overtook 3974 and came very close to where I was queueing. Most people were thinking – ''what the hell is he doing, leaving with about 20 people on?!'', but the people just behind me had the decency to allow those in front of them to board before them. Again, I opted for the back seats upstairs, and we pulled away from Heworth about 5 minutes later. A long, tedious, cramped journey took place, before we got to Gateshead, then to Central Station. I couldn't be bothered to alight here, so just survived until the termination point of Market Street (Monument). The time was 12:30..................had the Metro been running as usual, I would have been there roughly an hour earlier. What a way to waste a day, nice one, Metro! No warning of the train terminating at Brockley Whins, and also, why on earth didn't our replacement bus just continue to Monument? It later came out of the layover at Heworth anyway to do a run on the 900, so why didn't it just do that with us still onboard in the first place? I honestly thought riding these Metro Replacements today would be quite fun, having never rode on them, but I'm afraid it'll take me a long time to do them again, unless absolutely necessary.....

An hour behind schedule, I headed towards Eldon Square/Haymarket. To get a bit of Arriva traction out of the way, I decided to board a 43/44/45, etc to Regent Centre and back. I understand a lot of you must get bored of me always doing Regent Centre and back whenever I do an Explorer, but I'm afraid I don't know much beyond there, and there is only a certain amount of hours in the day to go to Blyth or Ashington. Back on-topic, I saw an Optare Solo enter with a 46, as I knew this went to Regent Centre, I opted to have a go on this. I've not been on many of these, to tell the truth. One on the 64, and then one on the P&R (in that livery iirc?) for the Durham Lumiere event back in 2013 was the last I can remember, so this was a nice refresher. My ride for this short trip was 2842; first thoughts when I boarded was that the interior was clean, not many people were on, and the seats were nice at the back, they were pretty comfy and offered plenty of legroom. Was sat at the rear again this time, but only so I could hear the engine as best as possible. Overall verdict; by the time we'd reached Regent Centre I was fairly impressed. I know some people hate these Optare Solos (this one seemed like it had been refurbished? - don't know if the examples at Belmont are extremely bad or something, but whenever I'm there I can hear them before I see them!) but I felt this was very nice. Disembarked, and headed to the other side of the bus stands for the first thing back to Newcastle. To my surprise, it was yet another 46, operated by yet another Solo! Flagged it down, and boarded. The driver inspected my Explorer very closely, before smiling and letting me on. We pulled away from Regent Centre with a small load of about half a dozen people, picking up one or two along Gosforth High Street, but other than that, another alright journey. Seats were equally as bearable, and the interior was once again not in bad shape. Apparently the examples at Belmont are very tatty and disgusting inside, will have to try one at some point. Fleet number for the Solo back to the Haymarket was 2844.

Now, this was when the day turned for the better. As I walked out of Haymarket, I spotted something yellow on Percy Street; 3823 as evidenced by the front panel. Totally by chance, I had hit the jackpot. Making my way down into Eldon Square, I watched it set down passengers before a small load of about five people boarded, myself included. An elderly couple had taken the nice seats at the front, so I opted to sit behind the stairs instead. Thoroughly enjoyed this quiet ride, the two at the front nodded off by the time we hit Gateshead Interchange, and anybody who did board sat downstairs. Brilliant time flying through the countryside, was lovely to follow the rails of the Tanfield Railway from the road, haven't been in a few months so I must squeeze that in at some point one Sunday. Some Pie & Peas sold in the station building at Andrew's House (the main one next to the sheds and yard!). As we passed Stanley depot, I counted half a dozen ''Coast & Country'' branded Streetlites parked up in full-view. Was great to see that many in the flesh with my own eyes, and minutes later we pulled into Stanley Bus Station.
My day was now much improved, having had a dosage of Volvo Olympian. I'm turning into another Adam - for a long time he seemed to have a knack of hunting one down on a daily basis! Was slightly peeved when we were pulling in, 3831 was pulling out with a ''Diamond'' 44A for Newcastle. However, there was an 8 back to Chester-le-Street due in about 10 minutes, so I waited for that. A red Solar turned out to be my ride, rather than a B10BLE. 4930 entered the bus station, and I boarded on the 14:15 #8. Not a bad journey, I have to say I would have preferred a Renown, but this was a nice change. Although, it could well have been my last trip on the ''Lime'' before it's transition to ''Coast & Country'' (for those interested, it even had ''Coast & Country'' timetables!), I wasn't too fussed. Out of the former ''Whey Aye Five 0'' batch of Wright Solars (4926-4931), 4929 and 4930 have always been favourites, the reasons I don't know myself haha. Just always liked them, used to be regulars on the occasional runs I used on the 50 before the route was taken over by OmniShities, and the world went downhill from there...

Once I was back in Chester-le-Street, I was torn between a ride to Durham and back on the X12 (reason A, my first time on it with the full X12 route number, and reason B) my first time on a ''MAX'' spec DB300 on the route). However, I was somehow quite tired by this point, with all of the faffing on with the Metro Replacements, etc., so I just decided to get the next 21 home. To be honest, as this would have been the 14:56 from Chester-le-Street to Durham, I was quite pleased I chose against it – as I'm sure aureolin made a post in the ''Late running records'' thread about it being something like 18 minutes late? Dodged a bullet with that idea! Before I knew it, an ''Angel'' headed along to it's Durham-bound stand, which I boarded after a small number of passengers alighted. Vehicle was 6065, one which I've always been a bit ''iffy'' about, as it was this vehicle involved in the N21 incident with the cyclist. Sat upstairs, behind the stairwell, and within minutes I had pressed the bell and was walking home.

A log of the day is below;

09:41 #78 – Chester-le-Street Durham County Cricket Ground to Sunderland, Park Lane Interchange – GNE 4909

Thank you all for reading, I appreciate if you've made it this far, haha. As for other plans this weekend, a little birdy tells me tomorrow could be a lucky day..... I'll have to be up nice and early.....

Monday is the MetroCentre Rally, as I'm sure all of you are aware. The Northern National Restoration Group's 4710 will be in attendance, along with Metrobus 3501 and Olympian 3833. I've been in conversation with Craig Smith (owner) about some photos of the restoration work done on 4710. I recall he mentioned the engine would be on display for the public to see - DaveyBowyer...!! Tongue I can also say that there will be a special line-up.....no further comments to make. Big Grin I hope to meet people there, I'll be hovering around 4710 quite a bit, looking forward to possibly having a ride on it during the day. I'll be there nice and early hopefully, around 09:30. I intend to leave late in the afternoon, after taking plenty of photos. Smile

Another excellent Review Marcus, shame the Day didnt quite go to plan for you.

Think we should come up with a Plan so we can have an NEB Gathering, I would suggest hunting down Mr Graham then go from there.

Unfortunately don't think I'll be there long (if at all). Pairing A Levels with a full-time job leads to very little free time.

Just four or five weeks to go and I can get back to having a social life. Smile

Maybe a group of people all getting the same bus e.g. the 09:45 X66 would be me Dan and a couple of others and some others come on the X43.
I should be arriving at the MetroCentre rally around 1030 (getting the 0944 X22 from Durham) as this is the fastest and earliest I can get to the MetroCentre for, still better than last year when the earliest I could get there for was around 12pm.

I will be getting the 09:55am X88 from Washington Galleries, Arriving for around 10:20am by the time I walk over the Footbridge.

Just four or five weeks to go and I can get back to having a social life. Smile

This is disappointing Dan, we need the face of NEB at this NEB Gathering.
I doubt i will be there for too long either. I will be using the car to get through as my Dad is interested too so we will go through together. I want to try and have a look on one of the new Streetlites (if one is there which there probably will be). I know that i will see them quite often around Stanley and Consett etc but i rarely travel on buses so will just see the outer shell. I am not too bothered about looking in an Omnidekka if some are being allocated to Stanley - i wil probably get one for as my school bus at some point. It will be beneficial to me if ANE provide a MAX and/or Sapphire vehicle for the same reason, so i can have a look at them on the inside and see the 'sparkle'. As for the rest, it will just be a general rally.
I sent much of yesterday out on buses for one reason or another, so here is my report of the day. I may as well make the most of my £600 Get Around annual pass. As I've said in previous reports, I don't want to invade Marcus' fortress of excellent reviews too much, hence why they're rare. Anyway, here goes, and I do apologise about the length of it:

02:15 #N21 Newcastle Pilgrim Street - Angel of the North (6068)

My day began in Newcastle, where I was partying with uni friends. What else is a 19 year old uni student supposed to do on weekends? It was about 1:45 and my friends were starting to get tired, so we left, raiding McDonald's for some food. It's a delicacy after a night out. With time to spare, I wandered down to Pilgrim Street, where 6068 turned up on the N21. I paid my £3 single to the Angel, and unsurprisingly, that's more or less what I can remember from the journey. After alighting, I walked up the dreaded Longbank and a few other streets, before arriving home at around 3am. I would normally get the N56 and alight at Wrekenton, but this service doesn't run on Friday nights/Saturday mornings.

10:28 #X25 Eighton Banks - Gateshead (4927)

I originally had my alarm on for 8:30, but I didn't hear it go off, and slept in. However, I did peel myself out of bed at 9:40, got showered and ready, before heading down the hill to Rockliffe Way to catch the X25. 4927 was my ride for this journey, which according to my fancy spreadsheet of travel logs, is my most travelled on bus within the GNE fleet. In the slightly rough and hungover state I was, I boarded to find it rather full, only a small number of seats available. I sat around half way up the bus beside a gentleman that looked a little like our very own Andreos. He was even wearing a green hoodie...... Wasn't much to report about the journey as I plugged my earphones in and was faffing with my phone for the journey, catching up with all the comings and goings on my social media channels I'd missed.

11:06 #X66 Gateshead - Metrocentre (5392)

I arrived at Gateshead and wandered over to the X66 stand, where 5391 was picking up passengers to depart on the 10:50. I've already travelled on this one, along with 5393, so I hung back to see what would be doing the 11:00. It turns out this was operated by 5393, but 5392 sparked into life from the parking up area and pulled in behind, ready to do the 11:06. I've never really been a fan of the Streetlites, they sound too "whingey-whiney" for my liking. I sat near the back, on top of the wheelarch on the offside, which makes a canny footrest. The bus left with around 37/38 of the 46 seats taken. Aside from the engine, the journey was good. I love the comfortable seats and the wood-effect flooring and I do look forward to travelling on these in years to come.

11:30 #X43 Metrocentre - Stanley (4897)

We arrived at the Metrocentre bang on time at 11:16, and after a shopping spree lasting a whole 10 minutes, I was back at the bus station, because I'm a man and men simply go into a shop, buy what they want, and leave, a completely different story to women, who have the hoo-ha that is associated with them shopping. I was hoping for an Olympian on the X43 as it has been in the past, but 4897 showed up instead. It pulled into the Metrocentre around 5 minutes late, with a small smattering of standing passengers at the front. I've never been on 4897 prior to yesterday, so was pleased to see it turn up as my ride. Six of us boarded for the return trip to Stanley, and we were greeted by a friendly female driver. En route, we picked up another three passengers, with all nine of us alighting at Stanley, where we arrived around 5 minutes late. As for the bus, I have no complaints. 4897 is a fine vehicle and showed no indication whatsoever that it is 16 years old and getting on a bit.

12:15 #8 Stanley - Pelton Schools (4899)

I was hoping for a Lime Renown, but 4899 is another Renown I've yet to travel on prior to yesterday, so was pleased to see it show up. Around 15 of us boarded at Stanley, and the journey didn't get off to a good start. The driver forgot to put the bus in reverse, so we almost careered into the main concourse of Stanley Bus Station. Almost as good as 4897, 4899 also shows no sign that it is 16 years old. Where they differ though was in the fact that 4899 began to develop a strange buzzing noise at the front of the bus. It was hard to tell whether it was coming from the driver's cab, or whether it was an electrical issue. By the time I got off at Pelton, there was around 30 people on board.

12:42 #34 Pelton Schools - Chester-le-Street (4929)

The reason I alighted at Pelton was to ride a Lambton Worm Versa, as I haven't been on any of them, nor have I travelled on the 34/34A before, so it was the best of both worlds. Therefore, you can imagine my disappointment when 4929 turned up instead. However, of the Chester-le-Street based Y***ERG/ETN batch, 4929 is my least travelled one, so in a way it was good to see it. Relatively quiet, we pulled into CLS with about 10 people on board.

13:15 #36 Chester-le-Street - Houghton-le-Spring (5299)

By this time, the slight hangover had disappeared, and both hunger and thirst had set in. I therefore went to Greggs for a Steak Bake as I wanted something hot instead of a cold sandwich, and then I ventured to Costa a couple of doors down. Out of all the Costas I've visited around the country, CLS's is one of the best. I ordered the usual, a small mocha to take away, and powerwalked down the bank to the market place as it was almost quarter past at the time. There was no sign that the 36 had left, so I waited. A whole 15 minutes later, 5299 came into view. I was slightly disappointed due to the lateness, and that fact I've already been on 5299, but it's a Citaro, one of my favourite bus types. Whilst stood at the bus stop, I'm sure our very own Simmy walked past, but I'm not 100% sure it was him. Journey wise, nothing noteworthy really happened.

13:56 #20A Houghton-le-Spring - Sunderland (4991)

Worst journey of the day in my view. At Houghton, a bunch of 12 young people, around 16 year old, were waiting, as well as a squadron of twirlies, a couple of fare paying passengers, and myself. 4991 came round the bend, and the bus was already half full. It was a pleasant surprise to have 4991 as I haven't been on it since its Orbit days, so it was a little nostalgic getting on it. I found a seat at the very back, and the army of (debatable) banterous youths joined me. It was standing room only once we left Houghton. The traffic on the A690 was very bad, with the next 20 overtaking us. We arrived into Sunderland late, as expected, and to be honest, I was pleased to get off.

14:44 #2A Sunderland Holmeside - Washington Galleries (8327)

Whilst walking down to the stop, 8320 and 8323 both left, so I had a good 10 minute wait for the next one. 8327 approached, another bus which I've yet to travel on. I've been on most of the Simplicity Versas due to the N56, but this one seems to have avoided me until yesterday. Very quiet journey, with various pickings up and droppings off en route, the maximum number of passengers being on at any one time being around 10. An incident with a car had happened at the green bridge (what's it called? Is it Fallowfield Bridge?), with a policeman directing vehicles around the tangled mess of a dunched car, probably a write-off. We arrived into the Galleries bang on time, which was good to see.

15:25 #X1 Washington Galleries - Wrekenton (6052)

Having just missed an X1, I queued for the next one, and 6052 arrived in. A friendly driver greeted everyone as we boarded, leaving with around 20 people on board. The journey was pretty uneventful if I'm honest, but I hadn't been on 6052 for a while.

18:39 #X1 Wrekenton - Newcastle John Dobson Street (6051)

No, I'm not out on the town again, before you ask. Friday night was my "let your hair down" night, and with uni assignments still going on, I was being studious and ventured to the uni library to do work as I work better there than at home. Also, I couldn't give a stuff about the royal baby, the boxing or the drivel that is Saturday night telly, so I felt as if I had to escape. The bus was around a quarter full, as I struggled upstairs with my backpack and a bag of uni books, taking my seat around 3 rows from the back. A very productive night followed, before I had to leave at 23:15ish.

23:30 #X1 Newcastle Eldon Square - Wrekenton (6005)

What a good way to end the day. My favourite Red Arrow. It's still making that amusing noise that's a cross between a whistling kettle and a Paxman Valenta HST. You can't hear it from the outside of the bus, but inside, it's louder than the engine. I unplugged my earphones to listen to it for the whole journey, and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Again, I struggled upstairs with my bags, but I found a seat close enough to the stairs to make it easier for me to get off.

If you're still reading this at this stage, and haven't dozed off, you have to be commended. I hope you found it interesting, but I suspect some of you will find it as being pointless drivel that was a complete waste of time.

I hope to see some of you at the Metrocentre rally tomorrow.

And now to bring it back to a simple list of the day, a rare Saturday Explorer for my good self:

Same, I either want to go there or Durham.

Anyone got any suggestions for Arriva Durham? Possibly some older buses.

Do a run to Sedgefield and back on the X12. It's a canny route.

The oldest stuff you're likely to see in Durham these days are the Lowlanders. I think Darlo still have the oldest stuff in the fleet, unless Stockton are still going strong with some Prestiges??

Aye I might do that, cheers. Then maybe a 21/21A to somewhere.

Do you know where the best places to find the Lowlanders are?

No Prestiges left at Stockton - just the Cadets
Must say if you're after a Cadet, some of Riverside's examples (I was on one on the 64A) are absolutely astonishing, they're not afraid to kick down and scream!

The X12 - providing MAXimum comfort when one of the older ones is allocated.

Hopefully less common now with the return of 7619...

I'm more after the Dart versions which Arriva Stocton have as they sounded great when I was on a Get Around.

Ah excellent then Smile

Is there much chance of a Cadet being on the 21/21A as there isn't enough Omnicitys to cover the PVR?

It's been a Pulsar or B10BLE covering for an Omni whenever I've seen it - but obviously those on Teesside are more likely to be able to confirm their last sighting of a Cadet on the 21A (if at all!)

Usually Pulsar's stand in on the 21A or sometimes a Renown although they won't be around at Stockton much longer I think.

No chance of getting one on the 21 as Darlo do the 21.

Lowlanders can pop up on a few different routes - you are probably most likely to find them on: 6, 43, 46/48 and X24 on a Saturday.

For older stuff in County Durham you could get an X reg Dart on the 8/8A. Not really a great deal else old to see in County Durham these days other than the Darts on the 8/8A (when they actually are on the 8/8A) and the Lowlander's.

The 0616 (soon-to-be 0615) from Peterlee on Saturdays is booked for either a Cadet or a B10BLE as it works onto 29/29A.

17, 28 and 29 are the normal location to find the Cadets. They do of course pop up on 15s, 27s and 9/27a (apart from xx25 27s during the week - as that works an X5).

Might do a 46/48 to somewhere then, or possibly a 43 to Esh Winning.

Get them while you can! Due to be withdrawn across the next few months... Indeed the first Pulsar has transferred down from Durham (albeit that has/will bin(ned) a B10BLE)

Are any of the B10BLE'S DDA compliant?

I think they have the (almost) same problem as the X-GGO Darts (some sort of ledge on the side facing seats), something that makes people who manage to get on, say a V-DFT Renown, that they've had no problems with previously, suddenly very hard! They'll want disabled access toilets next.  Rolleyes
