Was GCT able to operate all of their services today?
Noticed today that one of there new 23 reg Ivecos has an amber coloured destination screen compared to the other 23 plated with white screens. Sorry I , didn't get reg.

That one is RO23OFH.
The four 23 plates are:
RO23OFT
RO23OFH
RO23OFB
RV23EZT
They've been used on 42 & 61/62 in Durham plus the 71 (example on the 42 during the day, has gone on to do the evening 71 trips tonight).

It seems so, surprisingly.
Whether or not that will continue is another story.
In comparison, Stagecoach Newcastle have a few trips cancelled on the 12, 22 and 40 tonight - just after taking the evening 54 contract on!
Wibblejunior and I managed to catch the ilebus/iveco on the 62, this morning. Cramped is putting it mildly. I struggled, even with my short legs and there isn't much aisle space between the front most seats.
The driver's cab has screens up which cross the entire front of the bus and the ticket machine is in an awkward position for both driver (has to turn) and passenger (has to reach) as a result.
I still have Avril Lavigne rattling around my head from the on bus radio, though

Don't they need a license to play music?
79 didn't run all morning today

What the hell has happened to the 19 today
(17 May 2023, 6:10 pm)Unber43 wrote [ -> ]what happened like?
Just been hell. One was off for about 2 hours sitting at the ferry and I think OCL has double tracked
Currently no 342 tracking at all

but that doesn't mean that it's not running.
Several of the GCT fleet don't seem to be tracking consistently.

Well
Driver I spoke to the next day said that 2 broke down and 1 ticket machine had died so only 1 bus was on the 342. Same case with the 335 that day which only had 2 buses on
GCT up to their old tricks again! Seen a few people on tonight's journey pay with cash, no ticket issued. Would complain to Nexus bus that's a waste of time.
No wonder half of the services they operate end up being cancelled when the Nexus consultations come out.

I'm sure somebody said that they now had to provide card payment options, but twice I've used them on a Nexus service recently and both times cash only.
Nexus have taken fiddling rather seriously in the past from what I've heard so it may actually be worth it this time.
Having said that, was the driver just taking cash and moving on or were they doing stuff with the machine? Could well be the sale was rdcorded, but the ticket didn't print.

I assume they just took the cash and moved on - as two people paid by card and that printed the ticket fine.

Yeah, I've been on a couple of times and they say they don't take card for some reason.

I would report that to Nexus too.

Done. GCT certainly seem to have a lazy approach to the service, hopefully Nexus will follow up.
Rumors of a e200mmc moving to stagecoach is it true?

How many
Been on one of the Mellors my god are they awful, it just feels so wrong
Think someone at Nexus needs to look at the fact GCT obviously can’t run their current contracts in North Tyneside.
The amount of journeys missing is a joke on a contracted service - still at least one bus missing from the 19, 342 and 335 pretty much every day.
Not to mention they’re using buses which don’t meet the contract specification.

Doesn't matter what we say it won't make a difference. Nexus keep giving them contracts. It would be nice if gct just dropped out of North Tyneside to focus on services in Gateshead & Durham but that will never happen

I can't comment on the other routes, but 0324 is the third bus on the 19. It's tracking is just broken, it's definitely in service though.

That’s good to know then- I haven’t used the 19 but they is definitely services missing from the 335 and 342.
