Arriva seem to have finally removed the yellow tape from the front seats and the 2m line on the floor

GNE removed them quite a while back I believe.

I've also seen a number of Arriva vehicles with the tape still in place so I wonder what the deal is

Bus companies don't withdraw services which are making them loads of money.

X16, yes - but I think the costs of a Morpeth-Newcastle short journey were marginal as opposed to a longer run, and Covid made it unviable. Before Covid, they could've got away with a half-hourly X15 between Alnwick and Newcastle, but perhaps not now.

X6 was a handful of journeys against Go North East's more regular 309/310/X39, and the X85 probably died a death with the introduction of X-lines.

The X6 and X85 were peak only services anyhow and had been withdrawn during the pandemic due to fewer commuters. In any case I can't imagine it being financially worthwhile Arriva reinstating them when GNE run the X39 at almost identical times to what the X6 used to and likewise with GNE's X85 - the demand for both services just isn't there.

As for the X16, it's more to do with the Newcastle to Morpeth corridor than anything else. While frequencies have been reduced on other services, the X16 withdrawal is essentially just the respective frequency reduction on the combined Newcastle to Morpeth corridor, with the stretch to Kirkhill quite happily added onto the end of the 2, as has been the case operationally already (and if I remember correctly was the case before the X16's inception). If the X16 had only ever run between Newcastle - Morpeth and had been numbered X14, X15 or X18 then it would be a simple frequency decrease, it's the separate number that makes it seem more significant.
Don't really know Arriva routes so can't comment but the likes of the Peterlee services haven't been post yet.

They only have 5 routes going into Peterlee the X21 X22 22 23 and 24.  I don’t think they be many changes there except maybe X22 the others often have good loads.
Surprised to see the 308 ex Blyth @0541 is still not running. Mondays to Fridays. Surely a key service like the 308 should have a bus arriving into Newcastle between 0630 and 0650 Mondays to Fridays?

GNE could take advantage of not only that but as for late evenings:
- 2240 310 ex Newcastle re-routed via Hadrian Park
- 2300 311 ex Newcastle withdrawn
- 2305 309 ex Newcastle introduced (formed from the above journey ex Hadrian Park @2229)
- 2320 310 ex Newcastle re-timed to depart at 2330 and re-routed via Hadrian Park

Obviously Arriva would still have the edge departing at 2312 but the 309 would take a lot of casual punters just waiting for the first bus after 2300.
The 57/57A/53 & 308 have service changes coming up on the 13th October.

Bus times shows it reading (Revised Route)

Any idea if there are roadworks taking a place where a diversion is coming into place of are they changing the route

The new timetables for the 22/23/24 are on Arriva site, but there’s no literature saying what the changes are and Arriva social media haven’t announced the County Durham bus changes but have for other areas

I honestly have no clue as to what the County Durham changes were for, I tried looking through multiple timetables to gain an answer but seems like nothing has actually changed so at a loss what the registrations were for.

Same with the Newcastle changes. Some of them didn't even seem changed

I don't believe there were actually changes. Some of the COVID variations had end dates so they had to re register them and that's what they are.

https://www.vehicle-operator-licensing.s...ls/583357/ - You can see it on the 24 here for example with an expiry on the 1st October.

Seen no-one replied to this, this will be due to the changes in North Shields around Northumberland Square.
