The full changes in the Middlesbrough area for Stockton depot were posted by a councillor on Twitter late last night and are:

5: No service to Skinningrove at all, Liverton Mines retain hourly service Monday to Saturday but lose their Sunday service due to low usage (and to assist with reliability on Sundays). Not mentioned in the document but from my sources within Arriva, the 2320 journey from Middlesbrough to North Skelton on a Monday to Saturday will be revised to terminate at Guisborough while the Sunday trip at 2320, which presently terminates at Guisborough, will be withdrawn entirely
5a: Reduced to hourly, alongside the 5 and X93 will offer a bus every 15 minutes between Middlesbrough and Guisborough. Will follow the same route as the 5 within Guisborough (via Stokesley Road and Westgate to the Market Place) no longer serving Hutton Lane, before extending to Lingdale in place of the 28.
17/X17: Section between Ingleby Barwick Sober Hall and Kingsmead will be withdrawn, service 17 will instead operated half hourly between Middlesbrough and Ingleby Barwick, following the present loop within Ingleby but to a half hourly frequency rather than hourly. X17 withdrawn with these journeys now operating as 17s instead. Monday to Saturday evening journeys curtailed around 2100 and Sunday evenings will curtailed around 1930 (which is the time of the last trip on a Sunday presently anyway)
28: Cut to terminate at Guisborough Market Place, with Lingdale instead served by the 5a. All journeys will now serve Hunters Hill rather than just those at peak times.
28a: Journeys will not longer serve Nunthorpe Station, Swans Corner or Nunthorpe Village, instead operating via Marton Moor Corner, Stokesley Road and the A172 (the long-standing route of the Stokesley service prior to it become the 28a).
29: Revised to operate between Middlesbrough and Easterside only, no longer serving Marton or Cypress Road. Buses will operate a one-way loop of Easterside from James Cook Hospital via Marton Road, Marton Crossroads, Ladgate Lane (serving the stop at Marton Manor The Derby) and Broadwell Avenue. Weekday frequency remains at half hourly but Saturdays will operate hourly. Evening and Sunday journeys are withdrawn due to unsustainable demand.

The X22 change has previously been mentioned (although no details yet regarding what is happening to the evening X21 journeys between Peterlee and Sedgefield), as have the 62 and X2/X3. Leaving just the changes to Stockton's 7 to be revealed.

Those changes don't sound too bad in the face of it tbh especially in the Stockton area other than the 5 reduction. Not too surprised at the villages struggling but they have Teesflex I suppose (opinions on that for another thread).

Only thing that's not clear, is there new X93 shorts being done between Guisborough and Middlesbrough to make the 15 minute service as it's only every hour so would be 15 / 30 / 15 / 15?

It's very political that, as far as I'm aware it's an operational issue as much as being unsustainable. That's just Labour bashing at bus companies and the Conservatives as per usual and giving themselves credit for god knows what they actually done in 'saving' bus routes.
The only changes to Stockton’s 7 are evening & Sunday buses will run as service 7 not serving Kingsmead (unsurprisingly given the withdrawal of the 17) and evenings withdrawn after 9pm.

No you’ll have 2 5’s, a 5a and an X93 making up the 15 minute frequency from Middlesbrough - doesn’t help others on the route where the X93 doesn’t stop though

Ah makes sense now, misread it as the 5 running every hour throughout, not just the extension. Seems a bit awkward having a 15/15/30 service for the places where the X93 doesn't stop like you said mind.
I can imagine a few people in Skinningrove not being happy, and I guess the roadworks in Loftus have caused lots of delays for months which hasn't helped.
The ENCTS payment reductions and the scheme in general seems to be shrouded in mystery to me at least.

It's a subject for another thread really, but maybe someone in the industry who is more knowledgeable could talk about it more. How much do the bus companies get paid? Why are they only now talking about reducing these payments - surely councils will always have tried to pay as little as possible if they have a choice? How can an operator ever be properly reimbursed when no-one knows if the passenger is going to the next stop, or going the full route? Why has the 30p fare pre-9.30am around Teesside never changed or been scrapped all these years? Why do some smaller operators on long distance services ask their ENCTS pass holders to tap their card again, and other larger operators not? Are pass holders always a benefit to the bus companies or not?

Lots of questions, like I say better perhaps on a thread of its own, but seems to me the whole system is not straightforward or transparent.
I don’t think this is what Arriva are making it seem, I’d be surprised if their reimbursement rate is being cut - I think what is actually happening is the level of passenger journeys is being right sized after being held at 2019 levels for the last few years.

Clearly they’re carrying less concessionary travellers than pre-Covid and I would guess they’re now going to be paid for that level - this necessitates a cut back in the network to keep it performing at an acceptable level.

I'd be surprised if that isn't considered fraud. I think even for split registrations, it's questionable behaviour.

The statement says exactly that. Reductions in ENCTS up to 28% to 'right size' but mileage operated at 94% currently compared to presumably before COVID.

I suspect that is the point Arriva are trying to make, that the funding doesn't match the network expectation.
Re the cancellation of the X3A in East Cleveland and the 5 omitting Skinningrove. Maybe putting 2 and 2 together and making 5, but could the non- Liverton Mines 5 bus be diverted to ASDA and the retail park? And idea when the timetables are out?

Both the staff & public information make no mention of the long 5s going via Asda. So I take that to mean there is nothing into Asda, which seems an odd decision.

Some of the changes have started appearing in the journey planning section of the Arriva app/website. Had a quick play around with some of the bits in Durham and Darlington and these were some observations not previously mentioned (assuming info is correct, current times still show in some instances):

3/3A - becomes Town Centre to Skerne Park only as service 3, except for extensions to/from Hummersknot Academy on school days at start/finish times.

19 - West Park no longer served, instead running in a one way loop of Faverdale via West Auckland Road then turning right at the roundabout onto Rotary Way then as current route.

X75/X76 - X76 withdrawn, X75 running hourly with a few extras at peak times.

Beyond changes we already know, like 1 being diverted via Tindle Crescent, it's mostly changes to times.

* Times for working out are just for example purposes using the current timetable with an estimated time from Moorcock to Peterlee Bus Station due to removal of the service from Acre Rigg in Peterlee

One thing that’s puzzling me is what’s the 22B about? I take it the X22, will now go direct via Burnhope Way. So why aren’t all 22 journeys going via Acre Rigg - it seems unnecessary confusion having some 22 journeys doing ‘the quick route’ and others going ‘the long way’. It’ll also probably mean inconsistent departures and arrivals in Peterlee, it sort of annoys me when a half hourly service like that will be departing at gaps of 35 vs 25 minutes. I can only assume timetable is tight so the Sunderland journeys need the extra time.

it would make more sense:
Half hourly X22 direct via Burnhope Road (as does the soon to be-half hourly X6)
Half hourly 22 via Acre Rigg/Lancaster Hill (partly also served by half hourly 201)
Half hourly 24 via Pennine Drive & Oakerside.

I will also say there needs to be a new bus stop opposite The Moorcock on Acre Rigg Road for people to alight at on journeys heading towards Peterlee Bus Station.

The 62 will be run from Middlesbrough and terminate at Redcar Town Centre. Evening journeys will be curtailed at 1800 and there will be complete withdrawal of the Sunday service.

X3A withdrawn completely. Partially replaced by X2 which follows the route of the X3A from Middlesbrough to Marske then extends to New Marske.

Sunday service 3 will be withdrawn.

X3 will serve Redcar East and Borough Road to replace the 62. Ings Farm estate (Warwick and Castle road) will have no service at all.
How will this work though.
When you look on vosa 62 will still serve marske
81 still go to marske estate
X2 Middlesbrough to new marske

Sometimes the registrations don’t get updated whether that’s leaving the old details in the registration or some failure somewhere in the system (I assume they’re all done EBSR at Arriva?) then don’t take it as gospel.
The 29 still shows Nunthorpe but no journeys will run there…

So the 62 will be Middlesbrough to Redcar via its current route. The X2 will run as per the current X3A to Marske then spin and go back to New Marske. The X3 will divert via Redcar East station & Borough Rd.
No change to route on the 81 just timetable

Killed the X3/X3a imo.
Anything but an express, knocked the headway it had with the X4, allocations all over the place and for branding officionados - never bothered letting punters know about the extension beyond Asda...

There's always the possibility of something similar to the 64/64A where some of the first and last journeys still do the full route but the bulk only do the shorts.

Word of the changes within County Durham & Darlington has gotten to the Northern Echo: https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/2...-services/

The summary of changes:
Service 1 Darlington to Crook & Tow Law

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service X1 will unfortunately be withdrawn in full and replaced by a revised and extended Service 1. During Monday to Saturday daytimes, revised Service 1 will operate up to every 30 minutes between Darlington and Crook (via Bishop Auckland) and once per hour, buses will continue to extend to Tow Law. Service 1 will also operate to a revised route between Shildon and Bishop Auckland, via Tindale Crescent rather than South Church. This does regretably mean that there will be no service on Adelaide Bank and passengers in South Church should continue to access Service 5. Additionally, there will be no service on a section of Byerley Road in Shildon, between Middleton Road and Hippodrome owing to the withdrawal of Service X1. Between Bishop Auckland and Crook all Service 1 journeys will operate to a standard route and will no longer serve High Grange. All journeys will operate via North Bitchburn and Toronto in both directions. Evening journeys are proposed to operate as they currently do until around 9pm, after which, Service 1 journeys will only operate between Crook and Tindale Crescent. Sundays and Bank Holidays will continue to operate hourly between Darlington and Crook, albeit journeys will adopt the revised route between Shildon and Bishop Auckland, via Tindale Crescent.

Service 3 Skerne Park to Darlington

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 3/3A will be revised to operate as Service 3 between Skerne Park and Darlington only, up to every 15 minutes during Mon‐Fri daytimes, and every 30 minutes on Saturdays. There will be no service to Mowden (except for one school journey in each direction on schooldays only). There will also be no service on Hundens Lane, Albert Hill or Whessoe Road/Longfield Road. Additionally evening and Sunday journeys will be regrettably withdrawn.

Service 4 Darlington to Minors Crescent

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, evening and Sunday journeys on Service 4 will be regrettably withdrawn.

Service 5 Darlington to Bishop Auckland

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 5/5A is proposed to be merged into one route combination, although maintained at the current 30‐minute frequency during Monday to Saturday daytimes. A wholly revised timetable will be in place. The new Service 5 route will operate as per current Service 5 route between Darlington and Bishop Auckland, but all journeys will serve Greenfield Way in Newton Aycliffe (there will be no journeys via Meadowfield Way). Additionally, this does mean that Service 5/5A will no longer serve Jubilee Estate in Shildon, however revised Service 1 will continue to do so. Service 5 will operate via Dale Rd and Spout Lane on all journeys. Evenings and Sunday journeys will be broadly similar to now albeit with a revised timetable in place, however Sunday evening services between Darlington and Newton Aycliffe would be withdrawn after 7pm due to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service 6 Durham to Cockfield

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 6 will be revised to operate to a 20‐minute frequency during Monday to Saturday daytimes between Durham and West Auckland. Only some morning and afternoon peak journeys will extend to Cockfield and there will be no service between Cockfield and Barnard Castle. This is due to unsustainable passenger demand. Additionally, afternoon Monday‐Friday peak time journeys will be revised to terminate in Durham City Centre and will no longer serve Framwellgate Moor. This is due to resource availability to provide these extended trips but most importantly owing to the consistent congestion delays encountered at this time and in this area, affecting the existing schedule. A small number of journeys will continue to serve Framwellgate Moor in the morning peak with additional journey time. Monday to Saturday evenings will operate normally, with the last bus from Durham revised to be 22:25 and Bishop Auckland at 20:46, owing to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service 7 Durham to Darlington

How will it change?
A revised timetable will be in place, which regrettably means journeys will no longer extend to Framwellgate Moor in morning or the afternoon. This is due to consistent congestion delays encountered at these times and in this area, affecting the existing schedule. However, we’re really excited to announce that we’re increasing the frequency of Service 7 on Sunday and Bank Holidays to be every 30 minutes between Darlington and Durham.

Service 8/8A Darlington to Spennymoor & Ferryhill

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 8/8A timetable will see arevision, with some journeys on Service 8A being revised to operate during school holidays only. Additionally, Sunday Service 8 will also be withdrawn, regrettably due to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service 9/10 Darlington to Whinbush & Springfield

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Monday to Saturday evening service will be reduced to just one Service 10 per hour (Service 9 would operate final journey around 7pm). Sunday evenings will be withdrawn in full after 8pm. This is due to unsustainable passenger demand

Service 12 Darlington to Hurworth

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 12 will be withdrawn in full from Sunday 9 July.

Service 13A/13B Darlington to Firth Moor

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Monday to Saturday evening service will be reduced to just one journey per hour (alternating between Service 13A and 13B). Sunday evenings will be withdrawn in full after 9pm. This is due to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service 19 Darlington to Faverdale Ind Estate

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 19 will be revised to only operate between Darlington Centre and Faverdale Industrial Estate and will operate to a revised timetable as a result. Buses will operate a one‐way loop of the Industrial Estate and will continue to serve High Grange as normal. The section between Faverdale and West Park Hospital will be withdrawn due to unsustainable passenger demand. In addition, there will be no Sunday Service 19 from 9 July, owing to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service 22/22B Durham to Sunderland

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, there will be a revised route and timetable in place on this service, with Service 22 proposed to operate hourly between Peterlee and Sunderland (with all journeys operating via Easington Colliery all day). Buses will continue to operate half hourly between Durham and Peterlee, however journeys terminating in Peterlee will operate as Service 22B and will additionally serve Acre Rigg Rd, Beverley Way and Neville Road in both directions, replacing Service X21/X22 in this area. A revised evening service will also be in operation, with a reduction in total number of journeys, unfortunately again due to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service 23 Hartlepool to Sunderland

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, a revised route and timetable will be in place, with Service 23 revised to operate hourly between Peterlee and Sunderland during Monday to Saturday daytimes. Buses will continue to operate half hourly between Hartlepool and Peterlee, to an unchanged route.

Service 43 Durham to Esh Winning

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, the Saturday frequency of Service 43 will be reduced to every 30 minutes. In addition, evening journeys will be curtailed, with the last bus from Durham City Centre at around 21:25.

Service 48 Durham to New Brancepeth

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Sunday Service 48 will be withdrawn.

Service 49/49A Durham to Brandon

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, a revised Sunday timetable, with hourly Service 49 journeys only will be in operation. There will be no Service 49A journeys on a Sunday and alternative options via improved Sunday Service X46 will be available. In addition, a revised Monday to Saturday evening timetable will also be in place with final journeys curtailed around 21:00 from Durham.

Service 56/56A Durham to Bishop Auckland

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 56 is proposed to be reduced to hourly between Durham and Bishop Auckland. However, we’re also implementing a trial extension of Service 56 to Tindale Crescent in Bishop Auckland and most journeys will terminate there. Regrettably, Sunday Service 56 is will also be curtailed at Coxhoe, Cornforth Lane and will not serve Stobbs Cross. All evening journeys will be completely withdrawn after circa 21:00, or circa 18:00 on Sundays, again owing to an unsustainable operating position.

Service 64 Arnison Centre to Sherburn Village

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, evening journeys on Service 64 are proposed to be withdrawn after circa 21:00, owing to an unsustainable operating position.

Service 86 Trimdon to Bishop Auckland

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service 86 will be withdrawn.

Service X21 Darlington to Peterlee

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Service X21 will be withdrawn and replaced between Sedgefield and Peterlee by a revised and increased Service X22. The frequency of service between Sedgefield and Peterlee will be retained at two buses per hour, both operating as Service X22. This however does mean there will be no direct link to Newton Aycliffe or Darlington from Sedgefield, Trimdons, Wingate and Peterlee. This is due to unsustainable passenger demand.

Service X22 Middlesbrough to Peterlee

How will it change?
Service X22 is proposed to be doubled in frequency between Peterlee and Sedgefield replacing Service X21 in this area. Buses will continue to provide two journeys per hour between Sedgefield and Peterlee. The service will be revised to omit Acre Rigg in Peterlee (See Service 22 for replacement option) and will also be curtailed at Stockton High St. Only a small number of peak time journeys will operate to Middlesbrough, where available vehicle resource permits

Service X26/X27 Darlington to Catterick & Colburn

How will it change?
Regrettably due to unsustainable passenger demand, the 22:24 journey from Colburn to Darlington is withdrawn.

Service X46 Durham to Crook & Stanhope

How will it change?
A revised Monday to Saturday timetable will be in operation, however no changes to length of operating day of frequency. We’re pleased to be able to improve the Sunday daytime frequency of Service X46 from every hour to every 30 minutes, effective from 9 July.

Service X66/X67 Darlington to Middlesbrough

How will it change?
Following improvement to our driver availability position, we’re pleased to announce the reinstatement of Service X67 and the resulting improvement in frequency of service to every 15 minutes between Darlington and Middlesbrough. Some peak time journeys however will continue to operate as Service X66, additionally serving Hartburn, increasing the frequency of service via West Stockton at key peak times. Evenings and Sundays will continue to operate hourly as per current arrangements; however we’re also introducing some additional early evening Sunday journeys along with extending the current 22:25 journey from Middlesbrough to Darlington on Mon‐Sat evenings.

Service X75/X76 Darlington to Barnard Castle

How will it change?
Due to reductions in English National Concessionary funding support from Durham County Council and subsequent unsustainable passenger demand/financial position as a result, Sunday journeys on Service X75 will be withdrawn from 9 July
Is the x4 still gonna be the same if anyone knows as that's my daily bus

Whoa, doesn't look good for local services in Darlo.

No evening AND no Sunday service on the 4!? Did not see that one coming, it's always been pretty busy when I've been on it.

No changes to the X4 - that and the X93/X94 are the only services at Redcar that haven’t been touched in the reductions (not including the 95 in that - that of course was revised with the Lealholmside contract renewal in April).0

Full details are now online. I can see some specific comments around discussions ongoing with Durham County Council on Service 6, 43, 48 and X75, which may stop some of the planned actions on those services from taking place.

Partly the reasoning behind the changes to the 5 in the Loftus area - the lack of usage from Skinningrove certainly helped inform the decision. As such, Liverton Mines will be served in the same style as the current Sunday operation on weekdays - one journey an hour will serve the village towards Easington but will omit it towards Middlesbrough, with the opposite journey omit it towards Easington but serving it towards Middlesbrough. While this likely means the two buses will serve the village within minutes of each other, it will even out the layover time at Easington equally rather than retaining the present operation whereby the journeys via Liverton have less layover time to recovery any delays compared to those via Skinningrove (Liverton journeys get 3 minutes present, compared to the 7 on the Skinningrove trips).
Bit of a lazy error on this disruption list, who knew the number 1 to Blyth went via Crook Market Place? You’d think someone might have checked the differences between the two number 1 services for the area…

You had at one point a SCNE and a GNE 1 stopping at the same stop!!
