Saw this coming, got a 44 from Stannington to Morpeth recently and I think there was only me (and possibly one more passenger) on it, mind not surprising when on the section between Hepscott Park and Morpeth, the 43 & 44 are running only 3 minutes apart from each other in both directions (on this occasion the 44 was late, so the 43 picked up all the passengers).

My observations support this too, I have been on the 44 several times and there was never more than 6 of us on that section.
Think this withdrawl has been coming for years really, first loss of evening services and then in 2015? they consulted on losing the full Saturday service. Surprised it lasted this long when I think about it.

Shame to see these areas lose a service although its clear that the demand was just not there.

Changes from the 2017 season:
New 'earlier' journey added between Middlesbrough and Whitby departing Middlesbrough at 0750 and Guisborough at 0818, connecting with the former Whitby 'short' board - appears all of the summer extras will be Redcar operated this summer.
Journeys towards Scarborough will now leave Guisborough 2 minutes earlier.
The late departure between Middlesbrough and Scarborough in the summer (1820 from Middlesbrough, 1935 from Whitby) presently gets 1 hour 2 minutes between Whitby and Scarborough - from the end of March, this is reduced to 55 minutes, allowing the last Scarborough to Whitby journey to depart 10 minutes earlier at 2045 (was 2055 last year) arriving in Whitby at 2136 (2155).
All daytime journeys will arriving in Scarborough 1 minute earlier than presently
The current last departure from Whitby to Middlesbrough all year round at 1903 and the last Middlesbrough to Whitby at 2020 will now run Summer only
Journeys from Whitby to Middlesbrough will run 2 minutes later from Guisborough to Middlesbrough

Looking at the map, http://networkonetickets.co.uk/tickets/explorer/

I would suggest it was.

There is the ANE NE ticket to look at if not.
Yes, they will.

The inbound from Whitby is also Summer only - only part of that one that runs all year round is the Scarborough to Whitby bit.

Arriva North East's DalesBus offerings has now being registered with VOSA. Slightly different this year as the Arriva 830 will now only run as far as Hawes, however a new service 857 will operate between Hawes, Leyburn and Masham instead. Starts May 27th.

DalesBus summer times (including the 830 & 857) can be found here: https://www.dalesbus.org/timetable.html

(Preston Bus are doing the other 830 and 859 again this year).

Moorsbus times has now popped up in parts of the Arriva app. Services start on Sunday May 20th this year and the Sunday time's look pretty similar to last year for Arriva, except for a M5  Helmsley to Thirsk and return journey in the afternoon.

Interestingly, a Saturday service is being introduced this year, looking on the app, the departure times for the Saturday run, look like this (I've additionally added arrival times where there's gaps in the timetable):
[attachment=8872]

York Pullman have registered services M6 & M7 which Stephensons of Easingwold operated last year.
And thanks to the app, the times of the X66s from Darlington on an evening are revised back to xx25 - with a new 2125 departure as far as Stockton only introduced replacing the 66.

It's a shame they're missing the long weekend.
One operator starts their summer service ridiculously close (on a BH) and possibly not long enough to physically announce its presence to the world and we see Moors/Dalesbus missing out on the weekend completely.

Big Grin
May changes to the 1B introduce extra evening running time. Thus the round trip to Crook will be over 2 hours so a different vehicle will be needed for each ex Darlington departure. Not clear where this will be from - no interworking pattern is clear. The last 1B to Faverdale seems to work off a 7 board.

Think Moorsbus started on May Day last year, unsure why they have reverted to starting to towards the end of May again this year, mind the weather forecast for this weekend isn't exactly fantastic if they were to start this weekend

At least the Arriva DalesBus 830 has (arguably) better connections this year as last year all you could connect with was the 833 at Ingleton which ran to Gisburn Forest and pretty much all you had time to do there was get a cuppa whereas this year, passengers from this neck of the woods can visit Settle once again which was something you couldn't do last year which caused some upset, was also some comments last year about the late start in the morning and sure enough, almost identical times again this year, most of these comments I picked up from overhearing discussions between passengers on the one Sunday I rode DalesBus last year.

There's a 1B that arrives in Darlington at 23:16, so I would have thought that it would be more likely to that bus that does the 23:20 trip.

Diversion somewhere maybe?

I think that regardless of the weather, it should still run. The natural exposure of the service will have the potential to raise awareness of the service to visitors and tourists, who will be visiting and staying in the area regardless of weather. I think it will be far more effective than a poster or leaflet.
It's a mobile advert, that has the potential to reach a far bigger audience.

It wasn't too long ago, that I saw a a Solo sitting in Northallerton, blinded up for Hawes.
Not a journey I fancy making in its entirity, but one that I remember seeing and thinking that it could be useful for exploring later in the year.

The same applies to those visiting Hadrians Wall over the last few months and who aren't too familiar with services in the services up there.
Seeing a bus trundling around could have prompted them to return over the long Easter weekend.
Not seeing it on the other hand...

Just to keep it relevant to ANE. I like the moors and have been working out how to make best use of the Esk Valley line, ANE services, public footpaths and the pubs in the area.
The Moorsbus service is a welcome addition. Ideal for this weekend and early May bank holiday.
Particularly when you take the 95 in to account and it's running times.

What I said about the Hawes service and the Hadrian Wall service, still applies to the ANE services.
Particularly in rural areas.
May changes can be found here:

Full timetables for May on at least the X66/X67 are now available on the website:

Changes:
Journeys starting at Faverdale are reduced from 3 on a weekday and 5 on a Saturday to just 1 on a weekday (at 0640 - currently worked by Stockton depot although it appears this will revert to a Darlington turn from the 21st May) and 3 on a Saturday (X66s departing at 0657, 0727 and 0757). Sundays however, see the first two trips to Middlesbrough start from the depot.
Journeys to Faverdale are also reduced - from 4 to 3 (all X67s departing Middlesbrough between 1650 and 1800). The X66 from Middlesbrough at 1855 will terminate in the town centre at 1942.
A new earlier Saturday departure on the X67 is introduced from Stockton at 0824 towards Darlington.
Evening journeys from Darlington revert to the old xx25 departures with the new 2125 trip to Stockton added.

Diversion somewhere maybe?

It would appear that there is a road closure at Redworth again, 1 is showing as diverting via Aycliffe and Middridge (non stop) between Heighington and Shildon whilst the X1 will head up the A68 towards West Auckland and rejoin the route at Tindle Crescent (completely omitting Shildon).

This will obviously have an impact on the 1/5/5A/12/19 interworking patterns as the 1 requires an extra 5 minutes to be added to the running time to account for the diversion.

Temporary timetable is effective from Monday 21st May.
