''Service has now resumed and trains are running between Pelaw and South Hylton in both directions but are subject to delays of up to 15 mins. This was due to suspected cable theft

Used the metro.earlier and according to.the board, they were off between Pelaw and Brockley Whins. Didn't say why.
Seems Metro Tickets Machines cannot sell Weekly Tickets at the minute.
Trains only operating between South Hylton and Fellgate due to power supply issues. As my Metro is due in 2m (on-time), I'm not complaining!

Major power outage across most of Newcastle according to various supporting comments on their Facebook post - so for once Nexus and DB are blameless.

Interesting that the announcement at Park Lane station said South Hylton - Fellgate, whereas the posts on Facebook say South Hylton - Pelaw... Nothing was on the information boards. Anyone know if they are actually operating beyond Fellgate, or if this was just a mistake when announcing it?

Now reporting that the operating section is terminating at Brockley Whins.
Loads of punters milling around outside Brockley Whins as of 11:30 so still no progress.
From Go North East on Facebook:
Due to problems with the Tyne & Wear Metro, #27 is experiencing increased passenger loadings. Please bear with us and we'll have you on the move as soon as possible.
Anyone planning on using the 27.... good luck

Due to the power fault on the Metro, we will be accepting Metro tickets on our services in the affected area.
Services: 44,45,46,51,52,53,54,55,553,554,X10,X11, X14, X15, X18,X20,X21,X22,306,308.
The Express services X10/11/14/15/18/20/21 & 22 will all carry Metro passengers between Haymarket & Regent Centre.
Took a while for that to come through.
Wonder why replacement bus services haven't been put on? Bit unfair to bus customers, now their services are overcrowded.

There's no way a replacement bus service on such a large scale could be organised and implemented with such little notice. Bus companies just don't have that amount of drivers sitting spare in the depot.

There are no trains running between Pelaw and South Hylton in both directions until further notice. This is due to obstruction on the line. Go North East are accepting Metro tickets in the affected area. Bus services 9, 35, X36 operate between Pelaw and Park Lane. We will update you as soon as we have more information.
Wonder if a wheelie bin has blown onto the tracks 'cause of this wind?
On a more serious note, why isn't South Hylton - Park Lane covered by a bus service? Service 8 operates between South Hylton and Sunderland, service 11 operates between Pallion and Sunderland, services 8/20 operate between Millfield and Sunderland, yet Metro passengers are left stranded and cannot use their Metro tickets on these buses?
Let's not forget that services 9, 35 and X36 do not actually operate between Pelaw and Park Lane - they serve
some of the Metro stations in between the two quoted stations. Services 9 and 35 cover all stations between Park Lane and Seaburn, and service X36 likewise to St. Peter's, but after that, service 9 is useless until Fellgate and service X36 is useless until Heworth...

Are mainline trains running?
According to RTT: Metro are running good service and also one Northern service is running four minutes late.
Northern Rail just posted a picture on Twitter of the cause of the line "blockage"
Grand Central are being affected too, according to reports.
They can't get past the blockage.

Good start to the morning... my brother is currently using it to go to Newcastle cause hes off to Edinburgh for the week with the Army!
Edit: he made it from Sunderland to Brookley winds.... where the train has stopped and is terminating XD.... glad i told him to leave really early!
Train is due at 8:32am from Newcastle to Edinbough... i have a feeling he won't make it, he left at 6:45am........... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Again? Ouch...
You should have told your brother to get the 56 or X36 - it would have been safer.

I did tell him that!
Hes train is 8:42am, not 8:32am... i hope he makes it.
Somewhat fascinating seeing Metros running almost empty at this hour. Shows how much through traffic must come/go to Brockley Whins and beyond.
Trains are operating:
South Hlyton-Jesmond
Benton-North Shields
Heworth-South Shields
HST run I think.
There are issues on the ECML, with delays, so if he hasn't made it yet, there could still be hope...

There are minor delays to trains running between Haymarket and Airport and The Coast due to a trespasser.
