Don't see any reason why instead of going over the ECML, it couldn't curve onto it. Would be a massive massive coup for the likes of Bishop Auckland etc to get a direct fast connection to all the jobs without sitting on a bus for 3 hours every day.
Bishop Auckland was on the main line for many years before the Hunwick route was down graded and the Aycliffe route adopted as primary

Honestly, never knew that if I had to be honest. It's one of those lines, that should've never been shut though. We could go on all day with that list though mind.

True.
Tried to get breakfast in Gateshead Spoons this morning, but the riff raff put me off enough to feel like having a play on the Metro.
One thing I noticed is the stations smelled nice, unlike the last time I used the Metro where it smelled like piss.
Have they got air fresheners blasting out, or was I just following nice smelling people?
And if you're wondering, I got off at North Shields to get my free Cooplands breakfast

Having quite the day there aren't you.
Don't go spoiling yourself anymore. One thing will lead to another and next time, it could be a Toby Carvery breakfast in an exotic part of the world!

Saturday is Toby day, we usually go to the one in Darlington. In fact, rather embarrassingly they know our order off by heart!
I also had a little play on a train from MetroCentre to Newcastle, just to get my money's worth out of the ticket!
Now I just have to slum it back home with the commuter scum

Do we know if JH or GNE are operating the Metro replacement buses on 3/4 August?
"Monday, 22 July 2024
Metro is operating to all stations but there will be some big gaps between trains. We advise our customers to avoid travel in the rush hour if they can or to seek alternative transport, leave extra time for journeys if you are travelling by Metro.
Our train supplier, Stadler, has found a fault in part of the pantograph that draws power from the overhead line. They need time to check the whole fleet and replace any faulty parts, to avoid the risk of the overhead wire being pulled down causing more serious disruption.
These checks will take several days but we will keep customers updated about the impact on Metro services.
Updated at 20:55, Sunday, 21 July 2024"
Service update from Nexus tonight, posted 5 minutes after a separate post stating that 2 trains were taken out of service this evening for inspection. Posts on RailUK forums suggest a full fleet inspection is required. Best of luck to anyone trying to use the Metro tomorrow morning.

They need to get the new fleet in faster. The metro doomsday clock is at 23.55 already.

No attempt at an apology then or this morning. Shameful from Metro

How long does it take to build one train?

No idea, but i do know that they reached halfway, just waiting for confirmation of 555024-555046

Not so much how long to build but how long to test. They ride on rails not fly, aircraft take less time and are more sophisticated too.
555027 and 555028 should be here either tonight, or early tomorrow morning

It's too bad the interior will be damaged/destroyed in a week or something.

Yep, then the same people would complain that we/North East never get(s) anything new...
I've always found the Metro interior to be well presented and looked after. It's rare to see a ripped, graffiti'd or otherwise damaged seat, for example. They're either really good at finding and repairing, or vandalism doesn't happen on board as much as people think.
