=(, just reading the Chronicle, sad news for his family, thinking of them, same as the driver and the passengers who were on the train at the time. =(
Event on in North Shields, with a mockup of the Metro in the mid-80's and layouts of various other locations from across the North East.

There are no trains running between North Shields and Wallsend in both directions until further notice . This is due to a vehicle hitting a Metro bridge.

We will update you as soon as we have more information.

NEXUS are up to date with services then?

At 11:45 we will close the line between Brockley Whins and East Boldon in both direction. There will be a replacement bus service running between Heworth and East Boldon, and staff at either end to assist. The estimated time given will be up to 1 hour.

If you need to know where to find your replacement bus stop, in the station there will be a transfer map. Also in our timetable section of our website there is onward travel information.

Anyone noticed that a few of the late evening journeys which previously terminated at Manors are now terminating at Monument (platform 4) from February.

I can imagine that it will be a bit confusing if they decide to use "Monument via Newcastle" on the on-board announcements, as they do with St James and Manors.

I'd imagine they'd just use 'via the Coast', as they do with everything else on that line?
There will be a line closure between St James and Wallsend on 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 & 26 February 2017. A replacement bus service will operate during the closure periods.
EDIT. Schedule of works now extended to include 4th & 5th March 2017.

We are currently having network issues with the card readers at stations. Where possible we ask that customers bring cash to purchase their tickets with. If you are unable to purchase a ticket, please contact the Help Point at the station.
Engineers are currently on site trying to rectify the issue. We will update once we have further information. Thank you for your patience.
Tyne and Wear Metro passengers have given a thumbs-up to for London Underground-style linear seating when new trains are introduced to the system in the years ahead.

The Tyne and Wear Metro is a vital part of commuter, leisure and tourist travel for many people in North East England. It is the busiest urban rail system in the UK outside London, carrying around 40 million passengers a year.

Although the Metro has always stood for innovation, after nearly four decades its train fleet will soon need to be replaced.

Nexus, the public body which owns and manages Metro, is completing a detailed business case for a £540 million investment in a new train fleet and the infrastructure to support it, building on its current programme to renew track, technology and other key assets.

A new train fleet will be around for decades to come and Nexus wants to ensure its design reflects the aspirations and needs of people across the community, and throughout their lives.

It has partnered with Open Lab at Newcastle University to work with people across Tyne and Wear to understand their needs and develop proposals for future Metrocars. These insights will then be used as designs for new trains are developed with suppliers in 2017.

There was an interesting o/b from Monkseaton Metro on Radio Newcastle this morning, ahead of the handover from DB back to Nexus.

I imagine it will be available to listen to online.

Anyone know who's operating the bus replacement service?

Seems daft that the 310 and 42 are accepting tickets. 42 only serves wallsend metro, howdon and north shields. 310 on north shields and meadowell. Would be better the 11 accepting them.

6116,6117,6031 and 3972 operated emergency metro replacements last night.
