If it's a bus ticket this is 100% what you do, from using Explorer tickets in the past. Never had problems with Metro staff, which can't be said by opposite bus operators.

Must admit, yesterday I got a U21 day ticket waved at me but it was purchased on GNE and it took me a while to work out even what it was (had to take it off him and proper study it).
"TNE 21 & Under 1 Day" vs what we print; "U21 One Day". Even the under 16 ones throw me sometimes.

It is a pity that not all operators standardised upon the name that was set by Transport North East - ‘21 and Under’ - as Go North East have.
‘Under 21’ implies it does not apply to those aged 21.

Aye must admit it doesn't help. The explorer tickets are all different aswell. The GNE tickets having Network One throw off Arriva drivers badly as they read Network One and then all alarms ring which can end up being an argument outside of Tyne and Wear.

Same here with a Stagecoach ticket. Had one flashed at me and took me a few seconds to work out what I was being shown. I do feel for the passengers in that situation, a problem easily solved if we had interoperable QR codes, if Stagecoach ever get QR readers on their machines that is.

Where does the £3 go to is it split as I bought one bought it on the 21, used it on the Metro and SC so where does the money go?
Metro at Gateshead there was staff but at Jesmond there wasn't and at first I was worried that as I could see no staff we would not be able to get out but the barriers were open that was my only fear

If there is no staff at the station, barriers are left open

I believe it's pooled and then distributed to operators based on usage. At least that's what the sign in our depot says.

Not typically had a problem with any major routes, but some of the minor ones have a problem, usually quickly resolved. Interestingly, the only outright rejections have been on supported routes within T&W!

Apparently there has been mayhem with a broken down metro train bringing basically the whole system to a standstill as trains cannot get through Gateshead Stadium.

If Tyne & Wear Metro wasn't a thing, what do you think bus routes will look like?

Pretty much as it is now.
There's absolutely no creativity or imagination within the bus industry commercial teams and they would be totally oblivious to the opportunities that would exist if the metro wasn't a thing.

No metro = national rail service instead which would've been improved at some point.
Depending where you use it and go to, it could've potentially been better for some with through links to places like the Metro Centre etc and no doubt a much better service down to Middlesbrough on the coast line without the Metro complications on the shared section.
The Airedale / Wharfdale lines in Leeds is the type of service that it would've been though very likely.

I think there would be an X56, the X3 would still be a thing, there would be an X27, 9 would be double decked at every 15 mins. 1 would be deckered at every 7 mins (or would cause a 1X), X87 would be busier, I defeately think there could be some massive potential in South Tyneside.
North Tyneside I think the network already exists however it would be high increased frequency

None of the routes would exist as North Tyneside wouldn't exist. Most of Whitley Bay, Monkseaton, West Monkseaton etc are where they are because of the railway hence their grand stations. The Metro (railway) has been around since the late 1800's so it's not really a debate which you can actually have and it's the same at the other side of the water. The railway would've never gone anywhere and would've been improved at some point regardless just as national rail instead.

That's the old pre Metro railway network and the Riverside branch was mothballed after the Metro opening, Walker etc stations (closed to passenger use in the 70's).

Unlike the Coastline division, VFM never produced a map!

Metro related but not metro related.
Does anyone know if the bus station at heworth is buses only?? I've noticed since the strikes taxi's cars and vans using it as a short cut to avoid the round-a-bout at the swan pub and the lights leading onto the felling by pass. I know regent centre has buses only and Gateshead you never see a car in there.

Cars aren't supposed to use the shortcut like the X24/X34 does, but don't know if Nexus use camera enforcement

I think they could only do it via private enforcement, the likes of Parking Eye etc.
Looking at the Gateshead Council map, the bus station isn't an adopted highway, so it's extremely unlikely that there's a TRO in place preventing anyone using that short cut. I can't find one - https://tro.trafficpenaltytribunal.gov.uk/gateshead/

Only company who realistically could take it. GoNorthEast could very likely be on strike and JH Coaches, think it's them who does them, don't have the drivers to cover something like that.

Just read the Tyne & Wear Metro was at 70% reliability (30 sec. early, 3 mins late) Between Sep & Oct.
