DELAYS!!!
@My_Metro
Delays of up to 20 mins to trains running between Heworth and South Shields and South Hylton due to a fire alarm activation.
There are no trains running between East Boldon and South Hylton in both directions, this is due to a problem with the power supply.
We will update you once we have more information.

Not much of the green line in operation today, then?

South Gosforth - Airport off for modernisation work, and East Boldon - South Hylton off due to an issue.
I've had it with the Metro currently on 6100 hoping that it goes to Brockley Whins like the front says.
They were also off between South Gosforth and monkseaton earlier today. Again, a power supply problem.
Oh dear....once again...

Well, let's hope it doesn't take an hour for Nexus to organise a Metro Replacement service! I'd be pretty peeved if I had to wait around for an hour again at this hour.

Organise isn't a word NEXUS understands... lol

Haha, let's just wait for the uproar on Facebook where people say they've been waiting around for ages.

Metro Replacement has being sorted... 900 between East Boldon and South Hylton... probs be GNE.
I'm sure I've asked before, but does anyone know where the responsibility lies to arrange a replacement bus service? Is it with the contractor (i.e. DBTW), or is it with Nexus as the owner?

Seeing as DBTW are contracted to run the Metro on behalf of Nexus, I'd assume it's down to them, but that's nothing more than a 50/50 guess!

Well, 40 minutes... Not quite an hour! Tongue

GNE did it yesterday with 6099, 6100 and two B7s from Washington iirc.

I Nexus keep on turning it off to save money as they are currently raiding the piggy bank for shrapnel, Think its time someone else took over the Metro and its Day 2 Day Operations as this is beyond a Joke, Watch the whole Network will be down on 01/04/2016.

But it's never a joke, nor prank! Sad

7 year contract with a two year option wasn't it? If the two year option of an extension is taken, I'd expect to hear about it in the next few months, as there's a lengthy tender process to start otherwise!

I wonder if a Go-Ahead consortium will go for it? Seeing as they're running it most of the time anyway.

When did the contract start?

Second bit made me laugh!

2009 rings a bell, and would tie in with Malarkey saying 2016.

Yeah ermmm Malarkey ballsed up on the date aureolin, was meant to be 01/04/2015 rather than 2016, referencing April Fools Day and the entire Network being down.

Started April 1st 2010, so it'll end April 1st 2017. It feels like it's been a long 5 years!

Seven years is an exceptionally long five year period  Tongue

But then again 2+2=5.

Credit where credit is due, although I mucked up on the date in my post, I was still only a Year off and atleast I got part of the Date correct which is totally coincidental as I hadnt a foggy when the contract started.
Think Nexus need to dish out some more Sunflower Seeds to reawaken our Community Pride in the Metro System Wink .
I feel sorry for DB im a way they get a lot of blame for ageing trains on social media etc
Don't know if it's still the same problem as last night, but the Metro I usually catch is delayed this morning. The one after it is, too, as it's not yet on the boards and it usually pops up when it departs South Hylton.

Towards South Hylton, the arrivals are both said to be due in 9 minutes. Crazy.

Yeah it is the same problem:

''There are delays of up to 25 mins to training running between Pelaw and South Hylton due to a problem with the power supply
Please leave extra time for your journey.''
Update: Due to a problem with the Overhead Power Supply on Network Rail, Metro will be running a reduced service between Pelaw and South Hylton of approx 30 minutes until futher notice.
So i'm already running late, was gonna get the metro to Heworth then the 4 to College... think ill just get the bus...
