Slightly more accurate than the version on the BBC website, which was talking about "leaving the engines running all night".

Presumably the noise of compressors and other auxiliaries is causing the problem.

Does anyone know why the gap between train and platform is so big at Stadium of Light station?

I've heard rumours that it's supposed to represent the gulf in the league table position between the regions highest ranked league team and the lowest ranked league team.

Is it not because of the BR Trains sharing the line with the Metro,so more clearance is needed,im sure all the Stations between Sunderland and Fellgate are the same

All the Metro stations between Sunderland and Fellgate apart from the Stadium of Light station are on straight bits of track, whereas the Stadium of Light station is on a curve so there needs to be a larger gap to allow the longer National Rail locos, wagons and coaches to go around the curve without removing the platform edge as they go past.
Thanks for the reply, appreciate it!

Something about the trains or an upgrade. Doubt an extension as nothing political has been said or campaigned recently.
We can reveal the final interior design of our new Metro fleet!

Stadler is building a total of 42 new Metro trains for Nexus. The new trains will be 15 times more reliable and will cut energy consumption by 30%. Production will start in August 2021. The first new trains will enter passenger service in 2023.

Whats your views,do you think 42/46 trains will be enough?
Peak requirement pre-Covid was 37 trains I believe.

Ye, the reason for the increase because they're duelling the track on part of the South Shields line, meaning each "line" can have a 10 minute frequency.

Should be enough even if they do a slight increase, due to the reliability being much better........... big question is... will the current trains last until then?
What does everyone think of the new Metro-inspired merchandise released earlier this month? Anyone buying any?
