Changes have now been posted on the website (no timetables yet) - it seems, these 'extra' 59s are currently trips on the 37 and 38 on a morning and a 38 on an afternoon that will run as 59s between Stockton and Middlesbrough instead of running via Teesside Park.

I thought there was going to be a switch over with the Q3 and 35 between haymarket and jesmond so 35 goes through jesmond and Q3 goes through the town moor but it looks like nexus changed their mind because on the website it no longer talks about the Q3.If anyone has any answers please tell me because I am super duper confused

35 is going via Osborne Road. Gne couldn't make up there mind so have said the Q3 will go along great North Road in the future but don't know when.

They had since the Beginning of November and still couldn't decide

Anyone know if Stagecoach are doing the North Shields-Benton 900s? Or will it just be the usual JH and GNE?

Go North East running the blockade next week, JH running the late evening journeys the week after.

When did Nexus publish the results of the 35/Q3 consultation?
As GNE couldn’t have decided what to do until they were published.

But it wasn't for GNE to decide. What you are saying is GNE essentially sat on its hands.

The NEXUS consultation launched on 9th Nov and stated the plan was to cease paying GNE to run via Jesmond. Surely at that point GNE would have produced a draft commercial timetable change just in case? (i.e fully Great North Road)

Why wouldn't GNE do that?

Wonder what bus will be allocated to 594  , Is it a minibus in the contract?

I’m guessing the changes to the 3/13/10/11 are minor timetable changes possibly to allow the 594 to interwork.

Go North East just being greedy 'catch you next Tuesday's' as usual. Nexus stopped funding the Osborne Road section for the Q3 and GNE kept it running that way commercially, completely ignoring all customer requests to have a direct service along Great North Road.

Monday to Saturday service. AM and PM journeys to Doxford International from Northern and Southern Estates of Sunderland.

Looks like the 594 will now run on a Saturday, according to the CSV

10/11: Due to Nexus contract change for service 594, minor retime to Monday to Friday journeys, pre-0900. No change at other times and no change at all to Saturdays/Sundays.

3/13: Due to Nexus contract change for service 594, minor retime to Monday to Saturday journeys on service 13, with the 1648, 1703, 1718, 1733, 1748 journeys from Town End Farm slightly retimed beyond Farringdon. No change at other times.

X1: Due to Nexus contract change for service 594, 1742 journey from Doxford Internation retimed to depart 1747 and operate 5 mins later throughout. No change to any other times.
Must admit I really don't see the point of that 594, from Doxford Park to Pallion it makes sense but beyond that it's just bonkers. I know some love sitting on buses on here but why on earth would anyone in their right mind sit on a bus for 60 minutes to Southwick when you get a bus to Sunderland in 20 minutes, change and be home in 40 mins max on a bad day.

Buuut.... they ran the route for years without going in Jesmond so it would just take a bit of common sense to look at old timetables even just as a guide.

Because the customer is never right attitude is rife throughout GNE.

See now the Q3 is a route built upon subsidy.
Firstly, with the withdrawal of the original Q1/Q2 contract (Haymarket - Gateshead/St Peters via Quayside). GNE decided to take them on commercially and subsequently merged with the 51/52 (which became the new Q1/Q2) and then also merged with the X40 (Great Park), which became the Q3 - also bought new versas for the route.  Things stayed pretty stable and then GNE extended the Q3 to Wallsend (I think this was around the time Stagecoach withdrew the 18 from Wallsend). Again things seemed pretty stable. Until (2021?) when Nexus withdrew the 33/33A contracts as they did with lots during this period. GNE then had a PR backlash when they withdrew the Wallsend section and diverted via Jesmond, I remember locals and counsellors kicking off with class-based reasons etc... So nexus funded the St Peter's - Wallsend section after a short time. A year after the Jesmond variation GNE reduced the freq and claimed unsustainabity through Jesmond eventhough it was their choice. And until March this year Nexus funded more than half of the bloody route anyways. And they still fund the Wallsend section. So no wonder they could afford new electrics as they were making profits off of the taxpayer.
And now.... we have it where they could run it in Jesmond during 2021-22, but suddenly became unviable so was funded for 2 years and now back to suddenly being financially viable so they will happily duplicate the 35 just to pinch the punters, (which really grinds my gears as the taxpayer funds it and nexus have cheaper fares too I believe) instead of being able to up the freq back to every 15 mins and reduce the route time by going along Great North Road all while not increasing the PVR (rough working out, I have not done the maths), as it was for years before the route deviation into Jesmond. And as Lewis pointed out its the passengers in Great Park who suffer as there is a significantly longer journey due to this against their requests too!

They never bought new Versa's for the Q3, they were spares that were left over when the 58 was swapped with the 57, and the Q1/Q2 had the 11 reg Versas from the 51/52, while the Q3 was a mix of 10 reg and 63 reg Versas, the Q3 gained nothing new until the Electrics came along in 2022

Ok that makes more sense (:
It's probably been mentioned before but something like an X47 extension into Great Park is surely worth a punt? Unsure if it would be any quicker into Newcastle City Centre (Ponteland Road/A167 at rush hour etc) but it would open up a route to Kingston Park shops and the Metro (I know the Q3 already passes Regent Centre).

I understand this is something that the housing developers at Great Park are already considering using S106 funding for.

People need to remember GNE went bat chit crazy about how great the were when the " saved" the q1 and q3 when nexus decided they wouldn't subsidise it any more with the stagecaoch electric buses. I remember the signs and the news they were using it suggest nexus couldn't be trusted and thats why they should keep the status quo rather than francise.

There's a few more than these but I can't be bothered to copy them, all just minor timetable changes though with extra running time and nothing else.

Local members may be able to confirm, but I expect these to be withdrawn between Jarrow and North Shields, replaced by an extension of GNE route 9.

So , a good stable link established with SNE working it, will be shattered with the cowboys of GNE.

If true Nexus are seriously remiss, they already know the 317 is a disaster..
