GNE did it many years ago and the Shields depot operations then got split between Gateshead. Sunderland and Washington. Wouldn't say its all been a success since though. Mass reductions in Services but that's the same countywide not just here.

Sadly can see Hartlepool going the same way only 6 regular services from the depot now and before lockdown two early morning works services ( which it seems unlikely to return). Service 1 could easily be done from Stockton along with at least half the fleet and remaining engineering with a small number of buses staying in Hartlepool at a small outstation on one of the Industrial estates to cover and act as spares to the remaining town services. With Alidi being built next to the depot can see stage coach selling it for retail units.

South Shields services will eventually run from Sunderland at least I think that's the plan I think some drivers will still be based at the shields office

I remember fondly the PTE 537 with its SS blue badge to signify South Shields depot. That service ran up Chester Rd in Sland. Before 1985, the E’s were ran as PTE branded buses (South Shields) , originally 538/539 then 505 /506. I reminisce but miss those days.

Changes from Sunday
Teesside and Hartlepool
Busways as yet not uploaded
Only changes to weekday services on Teesside and in Hartlepool - Saturdays and Sundays/Bank Holidays remains as now.
One interesting addition for Stockton is the introduction of 3 short trips on 13s at the tail end of peak time from Middlesbrough Bus Station to Portrack Depot - departing the Bus Station at 1742, 1812 and 1847.

Same with Hartlepool depot both are very likely to be sold off with in the next decade.

Looks like Sunderland have been out route learning the schools service in Durham today using 19383.
If Bus Times is anything to believe looks like the X20/30 might be transferring to South Shields depot too

30/X20 have indeed now returned to South Shields depot, with some changes to operation
30 now runs 30 minutes later Monday to Saturday - both the 30 and X20 now interwork with the 12 in South Shields Monday to Saturday daytime. Sunday daytimes remain as previous - 30/X20 interworking in South Shields during the day and at Fellgate on an evening with the 2303 X20 working off a 3/4/7/8.
It also appears that the 17 and 18 are now working standalone Monday to Saturday daytime with each bus getting 10 minutes layover in South Shields.

It's been like that for a good while - the main time they all interwork together is evenings and Sunday as well as a few at peak times.

Today marks the first day of operation of Sunderland's new School workings, and it appears the 821 on a morning drops onto 18s while the 820 drops on 16s.
The AM 939 also now drops onto 10/11 from Pennywell at 0831.

That explains why there's been a decker on the 18, which is pointless throughout the day, as it normally runs around empty... should of interworked with another service - not the 18.

Peak times could get busy but other than that, not really.
I haven't seen the service for a while so can't put a number on current passenger numbers.

Ye, and the first bus of the day is too (well it was before lockdown) but rest of the day, it normally runs empty, wouldn't be surprised if its dropped to every 2 hours before its finally fully withdrawn.
Current timetable is a mess.
