The X55 isn't a new idea. A similar service with the same number (operated by United) ran between Newcastle and Hartlepool (with later extensions to Metrocentre and Billingham) in the late 80s/early 90s.

I believe GNE have had 2 County Durham X11s in the last decade. First was a service between Peterlee and Heworth only, photo in link credit to Carlise Bus Group:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/stagecoachuk/14354719795/

Most recently was the Hartlepool - Newcastle X11 which has been discussed here. Photo in link credit to Tony Kuy:

I believe the bus in each picture was the regular on each respective service.

The last proper fast bus between Hartlepool and Newcastle was the X99, which lasted briefly into Stagecoach days and ran from Seaton Carew. I think there was a Leyland National Hartlepool Transport has dedicated to the service as it had been rebuilt to coach spec as a demonstrator as to what their in house bodyshop could achieve, with the intention of bus refurbishment becoming a sideline. Coaches from their coach operation would be sent out too, though I'm sure I've seen images of their venerable REs making it up to Tyneside too.

Timetables are now online
Total guess...

1: PVR 14 (-1)
6/7/8: PVR 8 (-1)
10/11: PVR 12
12: PVR 12
15/15A: PVR 0 (-4)
18: PVR 3 (-1)
22: PVR 17
30/31/36: PVR 16
32/32A: PVR 6 (-1)
35: PVR 2
38: PVR 10
39/40: PVR 21 (-2)
62/63: PVR 22 (+1)
71: PVR 3
72: PVR 1 (-1)
87: PVR 1
88: PVR 0 (-1)
100: PVR 4 (-1)
X47/77/78/79/82: PVR 8 (-2) NB It looks like all these services will interwork at Eldon Square based on the timetables.
X63: PVR 4
X87/88: PVR 5

So that would be a PVR reduction of 15 (the 62/63 PVR increase of 1 making it a net reduction of 14), 8 at Walkergate and 7 at Slatyford based on current depot operations. It would make sense for the 32/32A to move to Walkergate so there may be changes to the depots' 62/63 split.

It's already been suggested that 22 E400s are leaving Newcastle soon, and there's 17 ALX300s nearing the end of their lives. Something will need to replace 26 of those at some point in the next year!

Slatyford will be doing all service 62/63's with Walkergate losing 8 deckers (might be MMC's) and Walkergate will be keeping the X63

Also the word at depot is those crap E200's will be going to
All 22 of them? The most surprising (and welcome) thing for me is that Sunday frequencies are more or less the same as weekday and Saturday frequencies between 10:30 and 18:00 on the 6, 7, 71, 72, 87, X47 and X82. I wasn't expecting that to be the case and it is one small win from the changes.

The route the 36 takes from Fenham Hall Drive is interesting. Essentially, Hunters Road, Richardson Road, St Thomas Street, Percy Street, St Mary's Place, John Dobson Street, New Bridge Street (layover at current X47 stop), Blackett Street, Percy Street, St. Thomas Street and then back to Fenham. No Stagecoach services will use Newgate Street in either direction, therefore.
The bus there using on the X55 has arrived at Stockton depot

X24 - https://tiscon-maps-stagecoachbus.s3.ama...017Apr.pdf

Easter Saturday 15 April:  Normal Saturday timetables will operate.

Glad to see the X24 running on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Fancy that, an operator deploying assets to provide a good service on a Bank Holiday on key routes....

Yup, fancy that, shame the X34 isn't running.

Hopefully the X24 runs every bank holiday, if the one on Good Friday and Easter Monday is successful.

I noticed 34563 was parked up in Stockton as I passed earlier on the 13. It's not going to be that one is it?

Doesn't look like anything new beyond what was decided after the 'consultation'...not sure why they are reporting it as if it is a further development.  Must be a quiet news day.

Not that one but there should be a Volvo B12B Panther there or arriving soon in stagecoach livery for use on the X55

It does seem a waste to use this dedicated coach, for it to sit around six days a week for just a handful of runs. The initial talk was for it to work in with the Megabus rotas, using different coaches.

I must admit that I struggled to see any revisions, but put it down to being tired.

A SNE press release that the journalist has misinterpreted perhaps?
The journalist had totally misinterpreted it. No routes have been 'saved' but tweaks made to the original proposals.

34563 or 34561?
34563. 34561 seems to have entirely disappeared from view

Looks like the only services not listed at the moment are services 10 /11 (which interiworks with 30 that is listed) and works service 575.
Service cuts in South Shields to 3,4,7,8 (every 12mins) and 30 and X20 (hourly)

Surprised that the E services are getting dropped from Park Lane and terminating at John Street and Fawcett Street.

Also mentioned:
  • 12: Minor timetable changes, evening service withdrawn (was nearly cut back to hourly)
  • E1/E2/E6: Revised terminus in Sunderland - now on John Street and Fawcett Street rather than serving Park Lane

Oh dear......  not sure what they could cut/change for Stockton's services, don't know much about them haha

Wonder if the people from the Go North East thread who moan about that they constantly cut services will appear here!
What happened to consultation for South Shields though. Sunderland and Newcastle passengers all got a say but South Shields don't get an opinion.

Hasn't been ruled out yet, but I doubt it given the changes in comparison to Newcastle, with the changes there more drastic to the network structure and re-routing - rather than just re-timings. Also to note, the three public consultation of the Newcastle network were announced shortly after it made the press.
