I hope not. 731's alright but 732 was absolutely dreadful last time I had it.

Speaking of the 3900s, anyone know why 716 is an 09-plate, yet 715 and 717 are 58-plates?
(02 Jul 2023, 5:57 pm)Storx wrote [ -> ]Surely it's upto Stagecoach not Durham CC / Tees Valley. If Stagecoach want to give the applicable element of the fare to cover the costs Durham would make from the fares then I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

Otherwise they're not going to let Stagecoach tickets on as Stagecoach can't be paid to run a service then make a profit off the fares at the same time.

When you’re running someone elses service you stick to their rules…

The batch were delivered Feb to April 2009 so ended up with split registrations depending whether they entered service pre or post March 2009.  They were mostly in line with fleet number order but with a couple of exceptions, 39702 being another to get 09 plates, for example.

Looked like a few of the gas buses had already gone this morning

Interesting that its the newest of the gas buses that have been withdrawn.  If it was down to hitting the 10 year warranty/refurb deadline for the gas tanks, you'd think they'd be taking the oldest off the road first.

Would also have made more sense to keep them in service for an extra week to enable the loan of a few deckers to Hartlepool to cover tall ships loadings on their services down there.

Where are the gas buses going?

Ye, a £1.50 increase for the Megarider, disgrace really when they're cutting the services.

First bus have bought them

Fantastic planning cut it down to 12 minutes now with the same small buses with more people likely to use them and delays expected.  I do wonder if the management have a clue or even care at times.

The contract for those two journeys on the 939 renews in September.

Shouldn’t be too long before operators find out the results of those contracts.

I’m happy that the service for the 39/40 on a Sunday has increased to 10 mins it is going to massively increase when they come so I don’t have to wait an extremely long 20 mins.

They’re still operating every 20 minutes each, otherwise it’d mean they’d be more frequent On a Sunday then the rest of the week.

I take any I don’t go to a different place. I don’t use the ones direct to Walker or Wallsend nor Chapel House or Dumpling shall I just take what comes first.

Question is 10000 getting a repaint?
Changes for the 3rd September 2023: I take it this is due to school contract changes?

Interesting to note service 37 Whickham View to Cramlington appearing , suspect some are schools and others timings as there’s no way the SS 10/11 will have schools put on them given they’re a contract between Low Simonside and North Shields.

This suggests that Stagecoach are also looking to replace the Arriva North East 52 service to Cramlington and 55 service to Forest Hall, as a 37 and 38A respectively.

Interesting move after Go North East had already registered the 352 - 355 services.

Believe Forest Hall will still operate as service 38 as it previously did when the service was first introduced hence internally known as Benton, with the 38A being its current 3 trips on a morning. Will be interesting to see the fate of the current FLE trips on weekend mornings as I can’t see them being kept when Forest Hall becomes a terminus.

They'll be replaced by 37's or stay the same I'd guess. They only exist when the 52 doesn't exist to keep the Freeman to FLE link.
I know that the final decision by Arriva to withdraw all these services wasn’t made until relatively recently, but I wonder if these extensions to the 38 are the reason extra E400 MMCs were diverted from the South West? Both Newcastle depots were already struggling to cover all the daily decker PVR and have struggled with this for a long time.
Wow back to my childhood of the 38 serving Forest Hall again

A "bus war" in Forest Hall of all places!!
how come its taken arriva to pull of of this area for stagecoach and GNE to start a sop called bus war? Are they both frightened of the power of this german owned company?
It might not be a bus war, could it not be the 2 operators working together to maintain the half hour frequency currently operated by Arriva? As the Go North East services are only operating hourly the 37/38 extensions might well be hourly too.
Not sure about the other areas, but of the Sunderland ones, only the 18 interworks with a scholars now.

One may hope the 16 change is to even out the standing time at either end of the route (14 min at one end and 1 min at the other is a bit rediculous). Not sure what the 23 one's all about as it seems fine, maybe just giving a bit more running time and taking a bit of standing time (lol, they're probably taking a bus off and tightening the arse off it)? X1 will be to do with the changes on 16 and 23 no doubt, as it now interworks with both.

Ah cheers, thank you for the additional information.

The 16 is horrendous, the 7:44am from Hastings Hill is constantly late sometimes by at least 10 minutes.
