In addition to this, service 6/6A will be starting tomorrow (Wednesday 6th September) but will only be operating between Hurworth - Darlington - Middleton St. George/Teesside Airport until the service is able to fully begin, effectively replacing the 12.

Hodgsons were running a school time only service (started today) between the Airport and Hurworth but doubt this will continue now.

Kind of falls into line with Christmas seemingly starting early this year with supermarkets trying to flog Christmas sweets etc, since mid-August.
It'll be mid-July next year.

Hopefully they make them every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 20 on a Sunday because sometimes the single deckers are full before you leave Killingworth…

Isn't it the Newcastle to Chillingham Road side which is congested? Not sure more punters on the Western side will do much difference across Newcastle.
Mind I'm still surprised there's not short runs from Four Lane Ends to West Denton with the 62/63 dropped to every 20 minutes. Living at the Northern side and popping to Killingworth once in a blue moon and seeing them around Quorum they're always dead or single figures.

How's it a waste when it runs of the 115 then goes back onto the 115. I don't see that a waste

During the day it carries nobody operating the 71 surely it would make more sense to run onto a 62/63

Maybe but it's possible just timing as the 71 isn't that long of a route where as the 62/63 it could be near enough time to start the 115 and the bus could be say at Four Lane Ends on its way to Chapel House or something

The 71/72/87 has been retimed to allow the 115 to work on and off them - that decker board does the morning trip then drops onto the xx04 71s from the city until 2pm when it drops off to do the afternoon 115 while the 71/72/87 drops down to a combined 20 minute frequency before dropping back in at Chapel Park about half 4 to boast it back up to every 15 for the PM peak, while also then ending up on 72s rather than 71s (incidentally the 72 board ends up on 71s during the PM 20 minute frequency and the other 71 board ends up on 72s before going back onto 71s).
If you had the 115 work onto the 62/63, you’d see trips dropped from the timetable on a morning peak and an afternoon to allow vehicles to go and work the 115. Notice that the 1, 39/40 and 62/63 are presently the only major Stagecoach routes that don’t have vehicles dropping off to work schools - I wonder why that is ?

Do you know what the X24 change is?
Ignoring the Throckley extension problem I'm surprised they haven't binned off the 71/72/87 by now and merged them with the 62/63 so you'd end up with something like
62: Throckley to Killingworth
63: Middle Callerton to Killingworth
64: Westerhope area somehow doing as much of the 71/72 as possible to Four Lane Ends
All 3 BPH
There's no need for 4 BPH at the Killingworth end either but the extra bus running through the core would do wonders.
71/72/87 withdrawn.
If you timed the 11 to run with the 62/63 you could have 9 BPH from West Denton to Newcastle aswell and the 36 to run with the 63 you could have 6 BPH from Fenham rather than the 4 BPH and 3 BPH on top of each other.

See now the 63 is going to Middle Callerton the 64 could now been restored in full and combined with the 62 and 63 every half an hour 62/63 Killingworth Bus Station- Southgate 30 mins each (15 combined) 63/64 Great Lime Road-West Denton, then they combine with the 62 Four Lane Ends-West Denton i theory providing the same frequency as now and the 62 between Southgate -Quorum- Longbenton, is that really an issue being every 30 mins when theres the 18/335/352/354/355 aswell it also would mean the 11 to Chapel House wouldnt be needed as the 64 used to run Forest Hall Shops- Chapel House

It's funny I was actually thinking of similar to that aswell but not sure, halfing the frequency would be too popular - even known it's probably more than enough to be fair.

The frequency could be more upto Four Lane Ends, or the Quorum in the case for the 62

I could be misinterpreting the wording but it appears X24&X34 could be receiving permanent Sunday services, as the Shoppers one doesn’t start as early as October, and the registration normally mentions the fact it’s only a Christmas run up thing.

Wonder if the 63 extension, and these Sunday services are BSIP improvements rather than commercial. It's the same date as the Northumberland new 57A extension and X16 tenders start aswell and we haven't heard of anything from elsewhere yet, assuming they've all got a share of the pot.

The 59 being extended to Middlesbrough is quite a bizzare change, can’t say I see the need for it other than at a push giving Tithe Barn and Elm Tree a bus further than the High Street.

It’s a bizarre extension to service considering Stockton can’t cover what they run now. Can only assume the frequency is going to get slashed to provide the driver resources.
