(04 Jul 2021, 11:06 pm)stagecoachbusdepot wrote [ -> ] If it is a resurrection of the original Busways 26, it ran Seaburn – Southwick – Red House – Downhill – Town End Farm – Hylton Castle – Southwick – Seaburn as one way loop so Downhill may just be referenced as a point at one extremity of the loop.

That seems canny but I'm not sure why the council want it - just another bunch of money they're wasting, if it popular then I'll admit I was wrong.

The rest of the changes seem to be timetable changes, look like the services are going back to pre-covid times.

Not at the minute

PVR for the new 19 is 2 - wonder if the MAN Enviro's will be used on it
Is the 19, not what the old Redby 9, then 99 and subsequently Nexus 99 used to be.  Surprised Nexus haven't just revised the 99 to incorporate it.  But on the other hand, good on stagecoach for trialling.

Looks like the 4 Thorney close to Downhill and the 22 from Doxford Park to Dene estate isn’t happening

Was trying to attach a copy of the old Busways 26 timetable to show the similarity but cant seem to figure out how to do it!

I can't ever remember a Busways 26 going that way.  I can remember the 26 going CBS - Fulwell - Seaburn South Bents.  Then that got withdrawn and new 26 went Sunderland to Pallion via Chester Road I believe. Not sure which 26 your referring to otherwise.

I remember the 26 from north estates to Seaburn, I think it was about early 90’s era, it only ran on Sunday’s only in summer holidays, it got changed to the 36 ( I think it only ran for 1 summer season before it got withdrawn totally) when a normal service 26 was put on between Sunderland and Seaburn canp , this was well before stagecoach took over

Yea that 26 was the last incarnation of the 26, Pallion Forge to St Peters via town, there should be some timetables in the bygone era of the 26 you mentioned

That's a first, stagecoach getting a public nexus contract

It won’t be the only one either.

Does that mean their could be some transfers between depots once the school term ends due to the gaining of multiple nexus contracts? As there will be no-more need for duplicates with the ending of COVID restrictions. Also, Sunderland usually borrows a decker from Newcastle every Summer for the E's. I wonder if that will be happening this year with the open-tops being used?

Could Stagecoach be gaining more school contracts as well?

Sure I read that tridents were rumoured to be arriving in the NE, I can't even remember where now.

School buses more than likely although, I would like to see them gain the 8 (Sunderland Docks to South Hylton) back.

Edit:

Stagecoach hasn't ran a service in Castletown since around 2010? when they ran the 36A/36C, for NEXUS.

That's great. That could mean more services receiving some double deckers, that would interwork with scholars services.

The 516 would also be a good gain for Stagecoach - the routes gained may get more passengers assuming normal stagecoach tickets can be used.
Ooooo, hopefully Newcaatle will gain some of the Nexus contracts
Have stagecoach ever ran the 84 as that would be a good contract to win

Before GCT It was operated by Stanley travel using their Ex Metrobus solo and Mini SR, before that it was phoenix and before that it was arriva using a Jesmond based solo.

I do wonder what the 99 will be allocated

Before that it was the 4 from Callerton to Metrocentre, operated by Veolia Transport.

Stagecoach has never and should never operate the 84/84A. It's a good alternative to Stagecoach (although not always well operated by GCT)

Does the 99 need a small bus allocated or can it have anything allocated to it
(09 Jul 2021, 8:48 pm)Micheal Aaron wrote [ -> ]Does the 99 need a small bus allocated or can it have anything allocated to it
Im sure contracts are allocated on a minimum capacity basis so a bus must have a minimum of XX capacity so any vehicle over that capacity would satisfy the contract, it is no good sending a 10-12 meter long bus around an estate with poor clearance's for turning or known parked car problems so common sense has to be used for the correct allocation
Gateshead Central Taxis often used a MMC or a Streetlite sooooo
