I can't imagine it's a decision taken lightly, but there must have been some sort of analysis and planning to identify the demand and associated staffing arrangements.
Operators have stated previously that there isn't enough demand. Yet services haven't been introduced to check demand (or analyse trends) and as far as I'm aware haven't spoken to passengers to gauge a potential demand.
I would imagine so, not sure on that!
I do hope one year they'll have a normal service between the 27th and 30th December
There's clearly demand for Stagecoach to run a Saturday timetable with weekday diversions via Newburn Riverside and an almost weekday service to Cobalt on the 22. Along with extra peak times services on this, the X78 and the 6 and 7. But then, bus companies are still in the dark ages on Bank Holidays so what do you expect?

Guessing it will have something to do with road works
What part of the 8 is subsidised?
That's what I thought. But why say metro has effected the service so much when nexus pay for that bit?

Not sure, probables for the OAP's, the money could be used else where.
The 18/19 changes are very interesting...
Would say..
18 is the service to Grangetown
18A is the service to Gilley Law
Both hourly with certain area's having a 30 minute frequency.

Not sure, the results aren't out yet (if they ever release them), VOSA only gives a brief on what the changes are.
I already post them before but these ones are from a email, they give more info on the changes...

I hope it still servers Gateshead I use it to get to college
Thought the 2 was coming back to serve Farringdon and the 3 would only serve gilly law. 18/18a/55a looks interesting? Why does gilley law need a 3 5 13 18a 55a bit too much
Pleased the x24 is direct to the toon. No boldon no Washington thank god

Those were rumoured until Stagecoach launched the questionaire... doesn't mean the 2 might come back but it seems unlikly.
5 is withdrawn (was confirmed on the previous lot from VOSA). 55A is just the 5/5A i think but they missed a / out.
18/18A is Sunderland to Grangetown or Gilley Law - Both Hourly.
Was told this morning the 18 will remain the same as now but on a hourly bases.
18A should be Sunderland to Gilley law - route unknown - hourly
8 - not sure on the route change, could be going ahead with it replacing the 5 in Barnes BUT there was a lot of people against it.
4 - looks like it might go back down Durham road instead of Farra.
12 / 13 / 3 - not sure on that change, looks like the Gilley Law section is dropped on the 3 route so the route looks to be going back to Hylton Castle to Farra.
Once again, not really confirmed just what it looks like, so it's all speculation.
Stagecoach should be releasing full details soon.

It's likely the 2 won't be appearing, there's nothing on VOSA for it, even on a separate one.

, ye, also remember when the 18/19 ran on a evening and Sunday........... shame the service has lost a lot of passengers over the years, hopefully these changes will work.
According to a driver the 18 is running the same route but hourly... which is good but i just need to know if the 6:46am one from Grindon Lane is still running haha

Is the 18 still doing the grangetown to town section or terminating at grangetown in a loop.

Supposed to be same route as of now, so not sure.
The Vosa thing is confusing though, it starts in Sunderland (could be city centre?)
So the route could be: City Centre - Roker - Seaburn - Southwick - Pallion - Barnes - Springwell - Thorney close - Grindon - Pennywell - Pallion - Southwick - Roker - Seaburn - City Centre
No idea, this is why i said they should release the changes early because they'll be confusing for a lot of people.

I have a feeling the route will be the same as the current 19 from the town via Southwick as far as Pennywell Shops half hourly. Then once an hour continue to Grangetown on the current route and terminate there and the alternate bus will run down the Broadway to the roundabout then pick up the 5 route as far as Gilley Law. Could be a long way off but that seems to match with the VOSA registrations.

Sounds about right Dan.
As long as i can get to work for 7:30am on a Monday - Friday - not really bothered about the changes, don't mind walking up to Grindon Lane for it, i do that anyway for the 6:46am bus.

When Stagecoach changed the 18 and 19 last time to go via Pennywell Shops, I emailed them a suggestion since service 18/19 and 5 uses the same type of bus, I made a proposal that the 18/19 to be renumbered as service 6 between Town and Seaburn (similar to the original service 106 before that service got cut between southwick and seaburn and service 6 went up to Witherwack) via Grindon and the service from Seaburn to Town via Roker as service 5 and extend service 5 from Town up to Farringdon/Gilley law providing new Links from South estates to Seaburn, the reply I got back saying that since the service has just been changed and there don't want the public passengers to be confused (I think stagecoach is doing quite good confusing passengers). I was told by a driver that the fella at stagecoach prefer to do his own bus changes his way without outside influence.

So if true, basically the whole feedback part was just so they can turn around and say "we asked the public etc".
EDIT: Changes to Stagecoach service 68 on the 5th February 2017.
