Stockton's electric buses arriving from February 2025.
From Facebook:
TEES VALLEY YOUNGSTERS TO NAME AND DECORATE NEW ELECTRIC BUS FLEET
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen and Stagecoach North East have today launched an exciting new competition for children to name and decorate a new fleet of zero-emission electric buses.
Youngsters aged 11 and under to are being called on to submit name suggestions for the fleet and showcase their artistic talents by drawing their own zebra design for each bus.
The chosen 64 zebra drawings will be showcased on the new buses, giving young artists the opportunity to see their work travelling throughout the Tees Valley.
Winners will also receive a prize package including free bus travel for a month, a goodie bag and framed picture of their winning image.
The chosen names will also appear on the buses, allowing the children to leave a lasting mark on this new fleet and be a part of this significant investment towards sustainability.
The 64 new buses will arrive from February 2025 and see Stagecoach’s Stockton site become the largest fully electric depot in the North East.
The introduction of the new fleet follows the awarding of UK Government funding to Tees Valley Combined Authority and bus operators through the Zero Emission Bus Regional Area (ZEBRA) scheme.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen. “We all know our children have the best ideas when it comes to choosing names and producing fantastic artwork so we want them to take charge on this great, green zero-emission fleet of buses.
“We want our youngest residents to play a part in shaping our new fleet. By giving each bus a unique name and decorating them with students' artwork, we’re bringing a sense of local pride and creativity to our bus network.
“Not only is this a fun and engaging way to spark creativity, but it also fosters a connection to our local community. I encourage parents, teachers, and schools across the region to get involved and support their students in making their mark on the region’s transportation.”
Steve Walker, MD of Stagecoach North East, said: “It’s an exciting time for the business, and the Tees Valley area, to receive such a large-scale investment in the bus infrastructure.
“Delivering a fully electric depot, with a fully electric fleet, will not only benefit the bus users of Stockton and the surrounding area, but the wider community. Linking the investment to the community was a must, and we all know that kids have the best ideas, so using the creativity of the young people in the area was a key place to start with our community engagement.”
The competition is open to Tees Valley residents aged 11 and under. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, 15th December 2024. For postal entries, submissions should arrive at Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) offices by Friday, 13th December 2024.
Each entry should include the child’s name, age, and a contact email address (school email addresses are acceptable). Both a bus name suggestion and zebra drawing are required for a valid entry.
All completed entries must to be sent FAO The Bus Team, either via email to buses@teesvalley-ca.gov.uk, or posted directly to TVCA, Teesside International Airport, Teesside Airport Business Suite, Darlington, DL2 1NJ.

Anyone know what's happening with 12080? It's the last hybrid I need to photograph but hasn't been seen since 1st October. Scared it wont come back out lol.
I'm lucky I'm the last person to get 12083 on the day it died on the Fossway/Shields Road roundabout

It had a failed generator was replaced and sent back out now apparently has a poorly engine, unsure if it will see service again due to its age and the reliability of the hybrids.

Yeah 12080 mate, hybrids should have all gone years ago they weren’t as nice as they used to when I last drove them almost 3 years ago so can’t imagine what they’re like now.

That's been on since the summer as part of the 'Not in Sarvice' display. There is an option to have it on a static Busways logo, which also puts it on the side.

Ah f**k! Absolutley love the hybrids as a passenger perspective but I do know alot of Walkergate drivers who says they've not had the best maintanence over the years. I wonder if all hybrid's are as equally bad as ours.
When I went to Manchester a while back, I managed to catch 12070 but only managed to go three stops before it eventually died and then replaced for an ex-Go North West Gemini. Safe to say I wasn't the happiest hahah.

Well they’ve received 7 E300’s from West Scotland so could well be. Wonder if they’ll be getting an eighth one then.

But they've just lost the 4 Cambridge E300s and 36050.
Not sure what the long term plans are for 27736/7 either.

The cambridge ones came up to allow the open toppers to be withdrawn. They've been replaced by 27717/718/771/772.
36050 was non-standard (being effectively a Dart with an Enviro body). It was also euro 4 so couldn't be used on the 8, 99 or 594, and had no cab-to-depot radio so couldn't go out at night (or rather shouldn't have). It was replaced by 36971

27738 has now joined 27736/7 at Slatyford. Unsure if these are all loans or not, 27738 got taken off the E2 yesterday and sent to Slatyford for the 35’s and is on the 6/7 today.

I've just realised tonight, that the height limit on Wellington Road bridge (one of the old 100 routes) is 14". Stagecoach have low height E400MMC's don't they? Could this be an option for Stagecoach if they re-introduced it in the future?

They're not going to bring it back, the resources are instead being used on the Great Park expansion and increase in service on route 1.

12083 is back out in service according to bustimes so you might get lucky with 12080 time will tell.
