36979/80 are destined for Hartlepool.
Taking their place at Sunderland are ex-Stagecoach Bluebird 36050 (SV08 GVA) and 36197 (SP60 DYH) - the later is sister to several examples based at Carlisle depot and internally identical to 36081-94, while 36050 is to 'Scottish-specification' with the high-back Lazzerini seats complete with seatbelts.

The £2 fare will now be in place until December 2024. Excellent news for drivers and passengers, definitely noticed more people using the buses with the cheaper fares.

It would be great with Stagecoach could actually sort themselves out. Hartlepool is now a complete shambles. That’s both services 7s cancelled in the last hour leaving a 90 minute gap not helped by the folk festival all weekend.
It starting to be pot luck if and when the service will turn up most of the time now and when it does it can often be packed. They give Hartlepool a full size bus in 22409 only then to have it withdrawn after less than two weeks. Hartlepool desperately needs investment to make the services more reliable because it’s starting to become more and more obvious that Stagecoach don’t really give a crap about the town even the majority of drivers are getting fed up at the looks of it. It’s certainly not helped by them taking on the 59 either which means 3 less buses to do the main town services with.

Stockton don’t seem to be doing much better either. The 36/37/38 have gone from mainly been the enviro 200 MMCs to anything been chucked on them now due to the MMCs doing Houchen’s ego projects 1/2 and 6 however I don’t have much hope on either depot getting investment anytime soon but it’s a backwards step from the 36 going from 69 plate MMCs to second hand 58 Man 300s.
I think stagecoach Stockton depot and hartlepool depot need new buses or good sandhard buses to help out that want I think ?

You like a broken record player. You post this every week.

Im surprised they were not just allocated to Hartlepool especially since they have all of 36081-94 now. Presumably they will ultimately see off 2 more Man E200s?

Yeh but that would've been logical.
I think stagecoach hartlepool need new and second hand buses to help out them bus from Manchester and Scotland e 300 should go to hartlepool depot to help out? That I think?

Like I said on Saturday evening, you keep making the point. Perhaps create a sub channel rather than use the ‘news’ feed.

Nah, i live in North Tyneside, i just dont bang on about the same point 24/7
The pits at Hartlepool are unsuitable for long single Decker's like the 22xxx / 24xxx MANs and the 27xxx Enviro 300 due to them being rear engines and 12 metres long.

Me too! And the way the 38 runs slight delay and the half hourly trip to Forest Hall regulated and missed same thing today at 2pm! Not the right way to run a bus service.

It used to get hammered when it went through Forest Hall Shops aswell, especially at school booting out time

You're beginning to sound like my brother.

It’s busy as far as Freeman but after that very few people going further seems consistently this way. As for peak times one journey arrives Whickham View 15 late then goes light to restart at Freeman seems a regular thing.
I have seen alot of E300 on 36,37,38 why E200mmc on new services 6 and new 1 and 2 services.
Probably because the contract demands newer buses.
Thanks for info mate
Has the gas buses gone to reading yet
If going to Reading why have gas buses repaint in stagecoach colours why not in plane white then?

I think three have.

Not all of them are going. At the time of repaint it was probably unsure if this alleged bid from First would go ahead.
Thanks for info mate
E400MMCs 10653 and 10639 on 685 today seen passing through Brampton around 14.45.

I can’t think of any buses that are not rear engined.  The fact is as well that some depot and pits used to fit various coaches and buses including Leyland Nationals which am fairly sure must have been 12 meters so with the possible exception of the 05 plate enviros I reckon the majority would fit over the pits.  The 27s 64 65 plates are roughy the same size as the 08 Manviros 200s so would fit over them.
Stagecoach has only operated out of Brenda Road depot since the mid 1990s (Possibly 1996), prior to that they ran from the depot in Lynn Street in Hartlepool. Before that Brenda road was home of United (Tees) and was mainly home to Bristol LHs.

Anyway, when they moved to Brenda Road, the Dennis Falcons, Leyland Lynx and Leyland Nationals had their engines mounted longitudinal under the floor at the rear of the vehicle, hence the seats went to the very rear of the bus and the engine was positioned that it was further down into the vehicle. They were just over 11 metres long rather than the full 12 metres. Buses started going to 12 metres when low floors came in, and operators not wanting to lose seats. The 39xxx MANs are either 10.8m or 11.2m, where as the 22xxx / 24xxx are either 12m or 12.8m.

They have probably tried having the long MANs and ADL Enviro 300s over the pits at Brenda Road and found it difficult to work on them, and I doubt health and safety would allow them to reverse onto the pits either, in fact I think most bus depots I've been to, vehicles tend to be driven forward onto the pits (though it also makes easier to remove the engine from a vehicle when there's nothing behind them).

But all in all, I think they've tried the idea, it didn't work hence no long single deckers at Hartlepool, no point suddenly putting 10 buses at the depot to find they cannot repair them effectively.

It applies in other cases, some depots cannot take Double Deckers, Arriva Stockton for example is one, although they can allocate double deckers to the depot, just just cannot lift them to repair them.
I'm not saying they should do it but I'm surprised Hartlepool hasn't become an outstation of Stockton with all engineering work happening there.

It wouldn't even be that difficult to do as all they would need to swap buses out at Middlesbrough on the 1 or on the 36 at Hartlepool either.

Same as Wheatsheaf / South Shields.
according to this the £2 fare cap is now till dec 2024, but ive also notice that its not available on the 685 ran by SCNE but is available on the SCNW service 685?  I'm assuming these are the same service or Newcastle to carlike?
