Stockton/Hartlepool
Stagecoach Newcastle Enviro400H,12069 broke down this morning on New Bridge Street, Shieldfield. Was sitting there with driver for a few hours. I think it was operating a 22 to Cobalt & Silverlink originally (according to bustimes.org).

There are reports that Stockton MAN ALX300 22062 has been withdrawn due to accident damage.
It appears that 37144 and 39719 have transferred to Sunderland along with the X20/30

6 routes was originally the case last time they transferred. However when they transferred back to Shields couple of months ago they never transferred any vehicles from Sunderland so seems strange they have sent the 2 vehicles to Sunderland this time.
So what’s the idea of x20 30 x34 transferring to the wheatsheaf when these routes don’t even serve Sunderland

So South Shields could become a low cost depot

Although the moving of the X20 and 30 doesn't make sense in line with low cost, as these are heavily subsidised low volume routes.

And they cant say that they are saving in dead mileage as there can be no service closer to Shields depot than the X20

tbf the distance isn't much different between South Shields and Sunderland Depots. Remember the runs end at Fellgate (X20) and Boldon (30) rather than South Shields and there appears to be some interworking with the E's in the evening aswell.

If they slightly interwork with the E's then that would make sense that they've transferred to sunderland.

More on about driving changeover during the day.  X20 serves the depot and end of services in evening normally terminate Chichester or Westoe for local services so mileage is closer for Shields depot in the long run.
Looks like every bus today out of Sunderland is either a E400 or Gas bus.

E400 on the 10/11
Rest of the services are gas buses.

I think we need to look back at why the 30/X20 have moved back to Sunderland with this set of changes - the changes reverted the timetables and duties to those introduced on the 15th June last year, which as such was when the 30/X20 both still operated from Wheatsheaf depot. So, rather than re-work the weekday journeys to fit with the reductions to South Shields services (don't forget - since the two routes moved back to Chichester depot, they've interworked with the 12 Monday to Saturday and each other on a Sunday), they simply moved the routes back to Wheatsheaf to avoid having to majorly rework the two depot's duties.

As for the vehicle swap, don't forget South Shields gain the two Pointer Darts in September when the 30 and X20 moved back compared to the 4 MAN E200s Sunderland gained when they first gained the routes in 2019.

Forgot about the pointer dart gain. But that was just the one, 35189. As 35188 was at Shields long before.
Looks like 39720 has now transferred from Shields to Sunderland also.

"Connecting the Dots" branded 37309 looks like it has also transferred to Sunderland as well - it's on the 23 today.

I wonder if this has anything to do with a lot of vehicles being VOR?

It appears for the past few weeks that there have been issues with the ADL E400s with most of the road with ADL E300s / Gas Buses being used on the X34 and X24 instead. They have still managed to operate deckers on the scholars services.

A photo was posted on Flickr the other day of 19644 being towed back to the depot after breaking down on the X34.

What does VOR mean?
Wonder what problems there have been with the E400's?

Vehicle off road.
Are Sunderland lacking buses? I thought they had cut the frequency. 37309 is a dots branded why on earth bring that to Sunderland. Advertising 3 and 4 dots routes when Sunderland already have a 3 and 4
"Enviro400 19179 in the yard at Carlisle depot awaiting delivery back to Slatyford depot."
"This vehicle replaced 11157 on the 19:55 685 from Newcastle to Carlisle on Saturday 06/02/21."

And I wonder why out of all the destination displays to choose from they chose Shields Ferry Replacement, which I didn't even know they did. All I can say is this Ex-Manchester Decker gets around.

I have a feeling Stagecoach will have the ferry replacement service I guess. Unless this is when the new ferry landing gets built

They probably have it in the display computer ready in case they have to cover it with little notice. GNE are doing it this week.
Anyone know what the story is with Shields E200 36479. It's been off road since late November.

Stagecoach have a load of "just in case" blinds programmed, or did a few years ago anyway.
MAN 39706 is another that appears to have transferred from South Shields to Sunderland. This is 5th in a matter of weeks.
