The entire service is funded by DCC.
Regarding service 59:

The cancellation has been put in at the requisite 8 weeks notice from the end of the current contract as funding beyond that date is not in place. As funding is not from mainstream DCC budgets (we no longer subsidise services on Sundays as part of austerity measures) and is from Councillors’ personal budgets we need to meet with Councillors to discuss ongoing funding. Hopefully the service will be re-registered at short notice so it will be seamless for passengers.

Thanks for sharing, i do hope they find some sort of funding for it, would hate to left with no bus services

Yep. It's pretty poor. They're not the most affluent of villages with not much car ownership at all.

Found it odd that the cancellation didn't list the whole route, hence my question above.

I think its because the route goes from:

Durham-Cassop-Thornley-Wheatley Hill-Cassop then back towards Durham, with the Cassop-Thornley-Wheatley Hill-Cassop in a loop.

That would make sense.
That would take too long. The service as you know is covering the same route as the DCC supported Scarlet Band 58A
However it's 1 bus 2 hourly service.
The Wheatley Hill/Thornley section is used as a convenient point too turn the bus around.

Just been looking at the GNE Fleetlist at the former "Silver Arrows Mercs" 5320 to 5324, hadnt realised that 15 Months have passed since these were Repainted, with that in mind I think 5320 to 5323 should transfer to Percy Main for the 19, with Omnicities 5243 to 5246 being repainted and transferring to Washington for the 5/50 when changes occur, 5324 would then be Repainted into Corporate Livery as a Spare (Float Vehicle) for the 35/36 & X7, furthermore Volvo B7RLEs 4978 to 4982 would transfer to Deptford from Riverside for use on the 61, with the operation of the 88/88A transferring from Washington to Riverside as a result.

Ye, way to long now... 15 months is ridiculous.

The Citaro's would be good on the 19, Least the B7RLE's don't have to be repainted for the 61.

I agree the 35/36 could do with a spare Citaro.
Can't remember if it was noted or not but the 434/448 have a new timetable from 22.2.16

From what I can see, only change seems to be the morning 448 being re-timed.

The 884 no longer exists, was made defunct as of the start of the 2015-2016 academic year.

Neither does the 815. Not sure why the registrations have kept them on.

I think they will run it clockwise instead of anti-clockwise on evenings and Sundays (DSS Longbenton-Four Lane Ends-Benton Road-Freeman Hospital) as opposed to the opposite which is currently in operation.
