To early to say what the changes are.

The ones above, starting 5th June, are likely to be associated with the works to the railway bridge at Hexham Alemouth Road - which will last for six weeks and prevent traffic from the A69 at Rotary Way from accessing Central Hexham (and vice versa).

Diversions (for all traffic) will involve using the junction at Two Mile Cottages to the west of Hexham (junction to Warden).

This is puzzling to me, as, although the start date corresponds with the start of the closure of Hexham railway bridge, there should be no impact - unless the road closure of Alemouth Road will affect Station Road.

There will, I suppose, inevitably be congestion due to traffic being diverted from Alemouth Road along Haugh Lane towards the West End (Two Mile Cottages) and vice versa, so, maybe the changes are in anticipation of delays?

My understanding is that the last bus from the Railway Station is being retimed to run ten minutes later to connect with the train from Newcastle, and the last bus from Allenheads is twenty minutes later.
On VOSA today: Seems to be the same ones as last time, expect the 135/136 is included...

I assume that means the Streetlites will be ready for the 20/20A/X20 by the start of June

I don't think any have arrived yet, so it could be tight for them to be out at the start of June especially when 22 are arriving and have to have destinations programmed, driving familiarisation?? and branding applied, doesn't mean they can't be ready for then, just a lot has to be done before they enter service.

Not sure if GNE will want stop announcements ready for them entering service to or they'll installed at a later date.

I think they'll be drip-fed into service, replacing Scania L94s week by week, similar to what happened when "Citylink" service 58 was upgraded. There's not enough room at Saltmeadows Road to store 22 new vehicles, however many vehicles are presently awaiting disposal, and of course vehicles present for bodyshop attention.

The Next Stop Announcements should be ready for the vehicles entering service, even if they are drip-fed. I'm led to believe that the 'spare' Streetlites will be allocated to the night bus N56 service as the Streetlites are more fuel-efficient than the Optare Versas presently allocated to this service and Go North East are also able to claim an enhanced BSOG payment for allocating Streetlites.

As such; the Streetlites will also have Next Stop Announcements programmed for services 56/N56, and the announcements on the Volvo B9TLs are due to be re-launched at the same time.

Tongue, oh well, it was worth a guess, as that's what normally happens for any other new buses haha

I do hope they don't change the colour or the branding for the Streetlites though.....
With the omnis (+2 red spare?) going to Washington, are there any plans to relocate some of the presidents? Surely 7 back up deckers are not required for the X1
(16 Apr 2016, 1:41 pm)JP6004 wrote [ -> ]With the omnis (+2 red spare?) going to Washington, are there any plans to relocate some of the presidents? Surely 7 back up deckers are not required for the X1

No red OmniCitys are transferring to Washington - that's just something which has been incorrectly suggested by enthusiasts! The Optare Versas and Scania L94 4935 will transfer to Riverside tonight.

Remember that 6040 is only at Washington in a float/reserve capacity, and as soon as the modifications to the Red Arrows Volvo B9TLs are complete, 6040 will either be withdrawn or transferred to another depot to serve a similar purpose (Percy Main would be a good shout - to cover for 3859 which has been withdrawn).

Three of the six (excluding 6040) Volvo B7TLs are allocated to scholars/misc works boards, meaning that just three are actually spare. Really, these are covering a PVR of 18 (15 for Red Arrows X1, 3 for scholars), and as Go North East usually allocate one spare vehicle for every 8, it's probably about right having three spare B7s at Washington, especially given their age.

The three Scania L94s at Washington will provide cover for a PVR of 29 (11 for Connections4, 11 for Whey Aye Five 0 and 7 for 82/82A). The Volvo B7s are likely to pick up the shortfall on the Whey Aye Five 0 and 82/82A, when all three Scania L94s have been allocated.
Thanks for clearing that up  Big Grin
