I use the current 687 service to travel to Hexham from Corbridge when I go shopping in ALDI.
There is just enough time for me to walk from the railway station to ALDI and then back to the station to catch the next bus back to Corbridge.
There is now just one possibility - the first journey of the day, but even that has been 'shortened' by five minutes thus making it unlikely that I could catch the 11:37 from the station as I only just manage it.
The remaining journeys do not offer any sort of connectivity for my purpose.
What will be missed most is the facility for the elderly residents of Corbridge to travel from the St Helen's Lane area into central Corbridge and back 'on the hour' without having to work out whether there will be a bus an hour later - but, no doubt analysis of passenger journeys will have been taken into consideration.
The service to Kielder is awful.
No point in it really.

The service to Kielder is in effect a franchise. Route, Timetable and vehicle type set by Northumberland County Council.

The 9 is because it won't interwork some scholars including mine.
The rest of the registrations on VOSA are for scholar services, which loads have being canceled and the Tynedale Links ones have appeared... to many to post here.

PCL Travel are operating the Bellingham - Kielder section. Details are included in Go Ahead's timetable for the new routes available to download on GNE's website.
Quite a surprised to see PCL operating this service. Their depot is in Ryton, so there will be a great deal of dead mileage. Unless of course they are going to outstation a vehicle in the Bellingham area. I'm unable to trace this service on VOSA.

The portion of the 687 that will remain is in effect the part that is supported by Northumberland C.C; The vast majority were commercially run by GNE. It will be recalled the 687 ran to Horsley until the introduction of Tynedale Express X84/5
