I think it will stay as the 20/20A, either way, looks good! =)
I think the reliability of service 20 may hopefully be fine if there is a few minutes layover in Durham and South Shields plus a good few minutes in Park Lane to allow plenty of time for passengers to board, especially on Durham bound journeys.

Like i said before, i can see most services keeping the same buses as of now, only think the 38 will use Versa, as at least 5 could be spare.

Also i wouldn't be surprised if the 35 would follow the 4 route and miss out avanue vivian, and what may come of the dafs cls have?

Purely speculation at this stage, but I think that the main bulk of repaints will include the former "Fab Fifty Six" branded Scania L94UB/Wright Solar vehicles at Deptford, currently in corporate livery or "Northern" branding.

By my calculations, the PVRs should be as follows:
  • 2 & 2A/2C - PVR 13 - "Silver Arrows" Citaro
  • 20/20A - PVR 19 - "Prince Bishops" Solar
  • 33 - PVR 2(?) - MPD
  • 35 - PVR 8 - "Laser" Solar
  • 36 - PVR 7 - "Laser" Citaro
  • 38 & 238 - PVR 5(?) - "SimpliCity" Versa
  • 56 - PVR 14 - "Fab Fifty Six" Volvo B9
  • 99 - PVR 1 - MPD
  • X35/X36 - PVR 10 - "Fast Cats" Solar
The vehicle type allocation is based on vehicles available, but again, purely speculative.

Assuming the vehicle type allocation is correct: five Mercedes Citaros (5305 - 5309 for arguments sake) would be required from the Laser allocation to be repainted silver for the revised '2' service, while the remaining seven would remain in "Laser" branding for service 36.
This would release five "SimpliCity" Optare Versas from service 42. I think the new PVR of services 38/238 will become 5 (+1 vehicle in total for the extension of the 38?), so makes sense in my eyes for a like-for-like replacement.

Five Solars would be required for the revised 20/20A, two likewise for the revised 35. There are 9 Solars at Deptford in Northern/GNE Red...

The service changes would lower the PVR of service 56 to 14, allowing a Volvo B9 to transfer to PM, and in turn a Trident to STY, replacing an Olympian.
The PVR of service 99 would lower from 2 to 1, allowing one of Deptford's to transfer elsewhere, presumably replacing 524.
The PVR of services X35/X36 would lower from 11 to 10, displacing one of Deptford's Volvo B10s to Chester-le-Street to replace a "Lime" branded example.

The Cadets released from Chester-le-Street would transfer back to Deptford to act as reserve vehicles, and Deptford's four examples would undertake the same role in the fleet.
Two are currently allocated to the nPower services - so think of 6039/42 (which originally transferred for these contracts) as Cadets in this suggestion... Tongue
Dan, we nearly had the same idea on PVR's.

I also said Versa's to the 38, hopefully also means the current purple ones will get branded for the 39.

I really hope these chabges go ahead... Citaros going through Castletown.. my auntie will be happy!

Although the 99 should continue to the retail park.. but that means it would have to be a 2 PVR and the timetable won't work.
I do like some of the changes,
2/2A seems like good changes to me, as does the 35 too.
The 36 Chester-Town End Farm? I'm not convinced on this one seems like a bit of Malarkey Marathon! In all seriousness quite a long route there. Giving Fence Houses a Sunderland link is a good idea though.
20/20A I'm not too conviced about either but could be okay if they manage to keep it to time.
Reducing the 56 could be a good move if it does help them keep to time more.

Another (imo less likely) alternative is that service 39 gets the five branded examples, while services 38/238 fall under a different brand using 8306-09/19.

Again, all purely speculative at this stage... We don't even know if the changes will go ahead yet. Tongue

I'm not sure the 238 will leave East Durham brand, despite maybe it should? There's also the issue of big buses around Northlea, Seaham. Due to parked cars, apparently anything other than an MPD won't fit around there, so that's an issue with allocating Versas.

I do think it could be likely that 8325-8329 May be transferred to the 39.
I still can't understand the 33 - where will it be running to/from?
service 33 by whats been noted, Sunderland-Silksworth-Doxford International then it changes to service 39 at Doxford International, with a Monday to Saturday proposed 15 minute frequency.

So in Silksworth there will be service 33 Monday to Saturday Daytime, with a service 35A on evenings and Sundays, plus service 2/2A.

Sounds a decent idea, wonder why GNE didn't mention this?

33-  Sunderland- Silksworth - Doxford International (5 minute layover as the 39 is every 20 minutes), then Moorside » Doxford Park » Ryhope » Grangetown » Sunderland City Centre » Royal Hospital » Chester Road » Pennywell

I would imagine that the 33 will use Versa then, if interworking is happening.

PVR sounds around 8?, (includes both 33 and 39)
I wonder if service 39 will go to a 15 minute frequency since service 29 will be withdrawn?.

Maybe, i'm gonna email GNE about it, see what they say.

It's not accurate but i think it's right.

Me too, although a few people might be upset about the 35/35A not going to Shields, look at the link's the 35/35A will open though.

I hope not, Prince Bishops is one of my favorite brands.

I like the prince bishops brand, probably look good on a double decker, I liked the short lived prince bishop swift brand on the X20.

It's one of my favorite brand's, it will look good on a double decker.

Never know, we may see that next year =)

So i'm on live chat asking about the 33, this is what i got...

Good Morning, you're chatting with ******, yes we are currently registering a new route and all the information will be uploaded to our website in due time.

Not much info then!
Don't axe the 29 it's a good service sometimes no seats

Proposed North side of the river the 29 will be replaced by proposed service 35.

Proposed south side of the river more than likely service 29 be replaced by increase of service 39 from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes with proposed service 33 every 15 minutes between Sunderland and doxford international via silksworth
Surely all this talk should be in the consultation thread since there only proposed and not definite
